Let's face it, SMITE 2 is bad.
Let me start by saying that I know we're currently on Alpha, and I know that this means the game is not ready, however...

- Matchmaking: To put it simply, matchmaking is nonexistent. You either get into a team that's so much better than the enemy, making the match feel like Coop, or you get into a team that's no match to your opponents. There's no middle ground, the matches are completely unbalanced. Also, the amount of players simply quitting after getting killed one time is astonishing. And much like Smite 1, it doesn't feel like they're being punished for it.

- Lack of roles: This (like the rest of the post), is based on my personal opinion, but I feel like they're trying too hard to be a "MOBA that's not really a MOBA", and this is proof. Don't get me wrong, I like the fact that some characters can succeed in different roles, but the lack of proper roles, especially when playing with new players, might be confusing and also prejudice the team. Not a fan of this.

- Character balance: Although it has always been an issue for HiRez, I'd expect that after 11 years, they'd be better at this. Some characters are super strong, and some others are simply useless. Add that to the fact that we're currently limited to a handful of characters (again, Alpha... I know), and the game becomes repetitive. Having "Tank" characters that outperform "Assassins" when it comes to damage, or "Mages" being tankier than "Warriors"... You get the gist.

- All items are available to all gods: Sure, the Ymir Crit is fun and all, but I can't see this as being good for the game. Let me explain... The more items you have available, the more builds you can have for a specific god (and that's cool), but it makes it so that the learning curve is super shalow, and can "force" people to give up playing certain gods a certain way (i.e.: Ymir Sup), simply because having him one shot people with a single AA is "more fun" than tanking and protecting your teammates. On top of that, balancing the game just became 100x harder, and like I mentioned above, that's not something HiRez is known for being good at. Also, Why only one relic?

- New format of pys/mag scaling: I hate this, plain and simple.

- Interface: I won't bash on the game menu, because it's still in Alpha and that's not what makes/breaks a game, but the in-game store SUCKS.

- Gameplay: I don't know how to explain this, but the game feels slow compared to Smite 1. Team fights, 1v1s... It lacks that "adrenaline rush" when you're being ganked, you know? IDK, might just be me. Also, all that hype about the new engine, but the game looks weird as well. Kinda reminds me of early Beta for S1, so I can live with that (for now).

At the end of the day, it feels like this game might not make it. Charging people for such a poorly made, poorly optimized game is insane. That's not how I'd imagine a good sequel for one of my favorite games to be.

Anyway, that's HiRez quality right there. GGs :sad_seagull:

I've played first Smite when he was in alpha/beta and after (i've probably really stop playin it regularly at season 7). HiRez are good at one thing, makin' sick and cool skins. At one point the first Smite was really enjoyable but because its HiRez they dont know how to follow the way and just destroy the game season after season, years after years. It make me sad because i've really liked the game. And they doin' the same thing with Smite 2 BUT faster, already bad in closed alpha.

So yeah, i'm with you, Smite 2 is bad. Gonna keep playin' to be sure but not for too long this time sadly

I feel you. I miss seasons 1-4 mostly. With every new update, they made the game worse. I don't know how the original Paragon didn't kill Smite, tbh.

Matchmaking - Never existed in smite 1 and nor have they tried for fix it for 11 years, so few people play smite that if they did matchmake it would take years to find a game, thats why its not in the game. i also agree with you

lack of roles - spell caster or lose has basically always been the case with smite and will always be the case simply due to the game design being 3rd person locked camera so yes thats why you feel lack of roles.

character balance - has never existed they buff high play rate gods and dont touch others, they only nerf when they feel its appropriate or "pros" cry.

All items are available to all gods - always been the case and one of the reasons the store is just overwhelming to new players guess they don't learn, but what do u expect from a company thinking ure5 will fix their mediocre game.

interface - has no right being as bad as it does seeing all a ui is is clickable jpegs and jpegs along with models can all be exported from ure3 so it should at least be the same if not better.

Gameplay - has always felt slow and sluggish and non impactful, due to garbage SFX sounds, character animations, terrible skill design, the inability to know what the ♥♥♥♥ is going on because of the locked 3rd person camera. not knowing if ur being chased or not without doing a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 360. even getting a penta in the game feels like ur winning at nothing. 3d person makes the map feel way to big, to much ground to travel sucks out the highs of combat, this game and smite 1 is nothing but a running sim.

the only reason and logical reason they are charging for this game not porting skins over and producing lack luster content is because they either run out of money, people stopped buying their $20 garbage skins in smite 1 that now cant be played in smite 2 XD (get ♥♥♥♥♥♥)
if people wanted smite 2 investors would be lining up at the doors of hi rez and throwing them money, but people dont want smite 2 even more so when it strips u of all ur skins, looks worse, has worse gamplay has worse looking gods, has less gods.

any one that argues against this is just in denial that their fave game is gonna eat the dirt sooner than they expected

Buddy, Smite 1's matchmaking is complete garbo as well. The matchmaking plans that HiRez has for Smite 2 (e.g. separate MMR for each role) sound miles above anything Smite 1 ever had, but currently I will concur that Smite 2's matchmaking is completely non-existent and the game is a jank fest. The only thing that I absolutely like is the fact that there is a soloQ-only mode for ranked.

imagine being an entilted idiot clearly born less than 20years ago and have zero idea's have games even progress or work.

As someone who really wants Smite 2 to succeed and as a long time fan I have to say I am not optimistic for Smite 2's future.

The alpha should have been invite only. This is in way to early of a state to be purchasable and available to the public.

The skins prices are very expensive. Even with 50% off with legacy gems the average price of a skin is $13.50CDN which is similar to most games without a discount. Anyone new to Smite 2 isn't going to pay $27 for the average skin.

The gameplay is ok but definitely lacking. I get it's an alpha but it already having aggressive microtransactions and hi rez advertising eSports when the game is in such an early state does not give me hope.

yea, even legacy gems dont do ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ since even with them skins cost 10 dollars, 2600 diamonds alone for a skin. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ christ

Imagine not knowing how to quote while being born more than 20 years ago.
Plus he was polite in his critics. You may disagree with him but you don't need to behave like a monkey with rabies.

That's a money issue. Pretty sure OP was addressing gameplay.

ALPHA - NOT FINAL

I actually enjoy smite 2, you have more freedom now that you can build anything with any god no matter the Rol.
Smite 1 still really fun but 2 is not bad at all, the monetization is :repoop: but gameplay didn't really change much and the best thing right now are the graphics and you are more free to play how you want
