That's exactly why they want it, to abuse everyone else.
Would be ideal if you could enable/disable auto-buy within the game as you desire and also have recommended items for your character. Like most games, eventually you become familiar with all items and their niche uses, but that takes a bit, just the same as all characters and abilities to watch out for.
But having chat in the game will be a double edged sword. There will be a helpful bunch, of course, but there will be just as many if not more flamers on the other end of the blade. It comes with being a MOBA.
Honestly, as long as I have the option to turn it off myself, I'm good with whatever. Personally, text chat is a big turn off for me in SMITE 1.
I see no mention of this anywhere. Was it highlighted in a video elsewhere? Seems to be more statements made on them pulling it for Smite 2 than any reference to it being present in the future development. They do have voice chat right now, but that's just terrible.
Nvm I didn't read it in the news section, it was most likely off the datamine page then. Anyways text chat will be implemented as it was already in 1 and they have no reason not to put it back in
That is just he say/she say stuff, their only reason to not add text chat would be because of "toxicity" but that would be it. The pros out way the cons
The most important thing this game needs is incentive to play the game as it's supposed to be played.
People "just playing for fun" & their understanding of fun is picking whatever they want, no teamplay in the picking phase + solo killthirsting ingame, etc. is what ruins the game. These people even play ranked games - they have absolutely no care about the game in reality, they just want quick action.
& this is why the chat is oftentimes full of flame. The types that ruin games (you can already see in a lobby that you are going to waste your life playing the game, but can't bounce either) should be forced to take meta lessons & forced into roles they have been assigned to, maybe even force on autobuy.
As far as the chat part directly - the moderation for flame should get a lot better, meaning a lot of more manhours = this costs. Situations should be looked into thoroughly & the real culprit should be punished accordingly. Otherwise we will end up with the same "it's a good game, but the playerbase is trash & unguided, so basically a hit & miss game".
