It is such an insane downgrade from Smite 1 that I'm actually shocked that they have the audacity to call it a sequel.
Bleeding money so they had to release something, had only 2 years left of monetary dev things of Smite 1 before layoffs started hitting the inner circle
You can also see some cost cutting things in place, card arts for instance are out and replaced by models in poses probably that you could run a trained AI through to get an instant image that looks arty to put on there with minor clearup
Wouldn't surprise me if they removed the after-victory and defeat screens too

Gameplay wise I would rather test in Arena mode as the matches are much faster. Conquest feels so much slower in Smite 2 it takes forever to get into a different match to try a different god/build.
Yes i agree that the UI and presentation needs work. But hey thats why we test.
A clash gamemode would be nice aswell. Not looong conquest matches
