Smite 1 -> Smite 2 = 20 years of engine upgrades / Still a Free 2 play game
OW1 -> OW2 = 6 years of Engine difference / Paywall for upgrade
Because the engine upgrades won't change any of the mechanics at all, just graphics. Like how with Overwatch, all they did was change the colors of some maps, something that some would consider... a graphical change, not a mechanical one. It's already been confirmed that it will ahve all the same gods plus some new ones, remastering the levels we already know, and adding a few new ones. Also seems to sound EXACTLY like what Overwatch did. All the same Heroes, I think 2 were changed at all, and a few new ones. Hmmm... I'm noticing a pattern...
I just don't see how smite 2 fits alongside smite 1. I think they should've done what OW2 did to a degree. Obviously not the paywall, but the engine upgrade, mechanic/map/game changes, character changes but transfer all skins across games for free.
Smite makes the bulk of it's money on skin sales and events, not god (pack) sales.
The mechanics of the game are the game...It is like saying Fifa hasnt changed in 40 years because it is still just soccer and they haven't updated the rules.
It has the mechanics of a MOBA and that is what the players want. Players that play this game on a daily basis don't want them to completely revamp the game...
Just came across this looking at buying the founders edition and wanted to research how the game is different.
Didn't Smite release in 2014? How is that 20 years?
Sorry if I misunderstood.
