Rebuilt or Transferred assets?
So reading these posts and Hi-Rez's description of the game Im trying to understand something. So they mentioned somewhere that they built the code for smite 2 from the ground up. If thats the case then i understand why they cant just port over skins, but its confusing because they have also stated that when they started they just ported over assets into UE5. It seems like most people see this as just bringing assets into a new engine in which case we should be able to get our skins and Hi-Rez is being shady. also i understand that they dont want to just give us a bunch of in game currency for free because that would make the "new game" unprofitable for a long period of time. But why not just slowly port the skins over? we could get a few each patch starting with the most expensive/rarest. the biggest issue i see arising is after the game is released they may try selling us those same skins. also the legacy gems don't make any sense are they giving us 50% of our gems back or can they only be used for 50% of a purchase? Maybe my reading comprehension is rusty but is seems like they are being intentionally vague.

Seems no one has a definite answer for this, if the skins I paid real life currency for aren't transferred, I won't bother playing. No skin off my bone, I've put in over 2k hours.. I had my fun. I'd prefer to keep playing but otherwise.... I'll just put it away and play other games. I'll admit I scoffed at the idea of smite 2.... I mean look at league of legends, they haven't done a league of legends 2 and are still one of the most played mobas in existence

The information is out there, game is built from nigh 0 otherwise they wouldn't be able to take full advantage of the engine.

They will be transfering over some of the most popular skins over time, to what extend we do not yet know, these unlike any new content can be acquired for 100% legacy gems. Pretty much all other actual new content will be 50% off using legacy gems (excluding stuff like crossovers because of shared profits, unless the other party lets them do it)

Tier 5's are still up in the air, these each have different tech that would have to be rebuilt but they haven't said no to anything so could still see them come around eventually.

The only they you are "re-buying" is the god pack, but after 10 years and a project built entirely from scratch i believe that's fair.
