I was SO Excited about SMITE 2, then I was disappointed.
When I found out SMITE 2 in Unreal Engine 5 with Nanite is coming, I got excited, I really did.
I thought it's going to be like Overwatch 2, Dota 2(Source 2 Engine) or CS:GO to CS2.

But instead I am finding out that SMITE 1 will be left behind and all the skins that I've bought over the years totaling of well over $1000+ will basically be abandoned?

What are the devs thinking? An Engine Upgrade is just that, an engine upgrade, doesn't make skins incompatible as it's just an asset.

I feel like I've been scammed with this move from the devs.

Lets be real. SMITE is barely hanging on in the MOBA world. It's hardly relevant any more and even it's tournament prize pools are proof of this. This is a clear attempt for the company to try and milk it's already dwindling playerbase for more money to keep their doors open, instead of coming up with a legitimately original game.

I mean ♥♥♥♥ even Overwatch 2, which was supposed to be a buy to own game, with a PvE mode(that got dropped) was going to let us keep all of our skins and such we had unlocked over our years of playing, whether they were gotten from loot boxes, or had purchased them outright by leveling up and using our coins.

HiRez has a history of treating it's employees like crap, along with other horrid practices.

I couldn’t agree more. We made SMITE to what it is today with skin purchases and battle passes and what not, what do we get in return? A 50% discount for our gems LOL

All this tells me is Smite 2 will be DOA between splitting the playerbase and then having those that say "wow, imagine being pissy about skins" vs those that had long time core investment for pretty much the same game on the same engine. Even a few players I know say Smite 2 looks inferior to Smite 1 just a bit more shiny.

If this continues and there's no unified front other than Hirez trying to ask Jake Lucky to play Smite (which doesn't really work) then yeah. But then again the proof is that they had all this capital but all their bad decisions have come home to bite them in the ass.

Did you read the announcement bro? All the old skins will be converted over and you will still have them. Also any gems you spent on icons and stuff that isn't in Smite 2 will be added to your Smite 2 gems count

Did you ever made a game in 2 diff engine ? Do you realy think there is a Transfer Button made for devs to copy them ? Ridicilous

i spent probably 250 bucks on the game as a whole since closed beta, no idea why these guys are complaining. the only person in charge on how you spend your money is you.

i hate entitled people thinking they are owed something. they bought a skin and got a skin it doesn't get any deeper then that, right?!

no it's the same old game on a "new" engine with updated visuals, coding, item builds etc.

a new game would imply they add more modes down the line or brand new 5v5 maps.

Migrating a game from one engine to another is not that simple.

UE3 and UE5 are so different that they're pretty much entirely different engines at this point.

Smite 2 is not an update- it's a sequel.

You still can play Smite after release of Smite 2, so you can hug with your pixel gallery.
