No activation Key displayed by Steam for Watch Dogs while Ubisoft Connect ask for it

All is in the title. I bought the game in December, never launched before and no CD/Activation key is displayed under "manage" on WDogs. Where can i find it back (i've last ubisoft launcher installed)

Great question,

You should not need a code, please ensure you are logged into and have Ubisoft Connect running before launching the game. So long as you are logged into the Ubisoft account linked to your Steam account the game should carry over.

This is something which happens automatically. When launching a Ubisoft game on Steam, the game will try to sign into a Ubisoft Connect account and activate the game there too. This is done without any CD-key or activation code.

I just got an anwer by mail by Ubi France, where they state that i should found the key in steam like other games... I know how to found the cd-keys but for this game, there is none as stated by Ubi-Wheelduck.

I'm quiet confused because the game is really asking for a cd key on Ubi Connect... :(

I just had the same issue and fixed it by completely exiting Ubisoft Connect completely THEN launching the game on Steam.

I am having the same issue. I bought the bundle that came with watch dogs 1, 2, and legion. When I try to launch it says it can't verify ownership of the content and asks for an activation key. I even tried verifying the files in steam and ive tried what someone else said about completely close ubi connect then trying to launch the game. No luck. I just want to play my game, someone please help.

I am having the same problem as Lord Tork. I have tried turning Steam and Connect on and off and reinstalling several times.but it keeps giving me a CD/Activation code request when I try to play it. This is frustrating.

On my steam deck, when the cd key prompt shows I just hit (B) for back or cancel, and it then says it will try to activate the game, once you confirm the game launches.

It's just a misleading UI, you can skip the CD Key activation page in the Ubisoft client

Lol if I click cancel, it just cancels and does nothing. At this point I'm probably just going to refund a game that apparently can never play

sorry for the late response.

If this is the first time you are launching the game, make sure that the launcher is completely closed.

When opening steam, before launching the game, verify the game files again:

Once launching the game, the Ubisoft Connect launcher should open, link the two platforms and launch the game without prompting the message for inserting a key.
