Issue starting the game.
Launch works fine, main menu works fine, but when I try to continue or start a new game, it crashes halfway through the loading screen, with the Event Viewer stating it as a problem with disrupt_b64.dll

Here's the tricky part: Watch Dogs is installed on a computer that has no internet connection, and can't get any. Which means reinstalling is impossible, verifying the game cache is impossible, updating drivers, all that sort of stuff. I need to find a way to fix it on my own, or I'll have to play it on my second computer that does have internet - the one that's a potato and runs it at under ten frames per second on the lowest settings. Oh, also, it's not on Steam, it's just on Uplay.

Hey Usernamehere,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

This guide explains how to resolve this issue: {LINK REMOVED}

Obviously, with you not having an internet connection on the affected PC, it's unlikely you will be able to resolve this.

Is it possible for you to connect the PC without an internet connection to the internet to help you with this issue?

Thank you for the response. It is unfortunately not possible to connect the unconnected PC, so verifying the game files isn't an option.

On the flipside though, I installed it here and I've been playing it. Life's too short to try to fix a game that works fine on this connected PC.

Hi,

I bought Watch Dogs on Steam and I am also having the same issue.when I start a new game, it freezes on the initial loading screen. I have deleted my game profile, ran the game as admin, verified the game files, deleted the disrupt_b64 file and again verified the game files, disabled all the options of UPlay through main menu in the game. But nothing seems to work. I cannot believe that after so many years of its launch, the game still hasnt been fixed by UbiSoft.

Please guide me on how to run the game, else please refund my money. Cannot believe officially buying the game and trying to run it can be so frustating!!

I'm sorry to hear that you're also experiencing this issue, dmajor0510. As it appears that you completed the steps from the guide my colleague Redbeard provided above, the next steps I'd recommend would be these[support.ubisoft.com]. They're designed to resolve most common issues that you may come across when trying to play a PC game.

If issues should persist after all steps in that additional article are done, please create a support case[support.ubisoft.com] and attach your MSINFO[support.ubisoft.com] and DXDIAG[support.ubisoft.com] files so that we can take a closer look and investigate with you in-depth. Leave the reference number here in this thread so we can find your case, and look into it for you. Thanks!

I'm glad this topic got bumped, because I think I do want to play Watch Dogs on the disconnected PC. It's installed and everything but still just crashes on startup. Without any way to verify the game files, what are my options?

Hello Usernamehere! Thanks for getting back to us.

I'm afraid in order to complete our troubleshooting steps[support.ubisoft.com] - which we would need done to even begin diagnosing the issue - an internet connection will be required. The only workaround I could possibly think of would be to install the game and the latest version of Uplay PC to a HDD that you could then reinstall on the intended PC, however this still carries risks of file corruption, and you would need to log into Uplay PC with an internet connection the first time you use it to then be able to use offline mode anyway.

May I ask, can you not connect your PC to the internet using an ethernet cable, if not Wi-Fi?

The reason it's not connected is because it still has Windows 7. In an abundance of caution, I decided to take it off the grid, so I can still use it for a lot of the older games and stuff that I have that don't work on Windows 10. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, as the saying goes. But maybe there's a way without the internet? It definitely works and its authenticity has been verified - I can load into the main menu, it just crashes halfway through.
Ubi-Woofer Aug 27, 2020 @ 10:05am
Connecting the system to the internet should not mean that you are required to update to Windows 10, though of course updating your OS to the latest Windows 7 version available would be advisable, to make sure that you have the best service offered by that OS.

As I mentioned in my previous post, the first steps we recommend and require to have done in order to continue troubleshooting will require an internet connection. Reinstalling the game is also a key troubleshooting step that would not be possible unless you have an internet connection, as you will need to download all of the latest updates and patches. Running an outdated version of Uplay PC alone may be contributing to the crashes you're experiencing, too, so we'd need to see that fully-updated.

You could try the workaround I previously mentioned, of installing the game and the latest Uplay PC version on a drive that you can then install to the PC, however I wouldn't personally recommend this over connecting the PC itself to your network and performing the troubleshooting properly.

I'm sorry that this reply is likely not what you wanted to hear. :(

Whatever works. Let's see if we can figure this out, shall we?
Usernamehere Aug 27, 2020 @ 10:24am
So for starters, attempting to launch the game directly from Uplay offline (or the internet shortcut form of the desktop shortcut) results in Uplay opening and a Watch Dogs Uplay launcher window attempting to load something and doing so infinitely. Launching directly from the Ubisoft>WATCH_DOGS>bin>WATCH_DOGS.exe file goes straight to the game's launcher itself and loads the game just fine. Main menu boots and everything is all fine and dandy. Probably an internet connection issue, but as long as the normal shortcut works then everything is fine.

Pressing continue or new game once I'm there results in the game loading to 45% and then crashing. If it helps, I heard somewhere that a similar issue was occuring for many people back when the game was first released.

And I think I remember checking the installation folders for both instances of the game on both my PCs, and I think there might have been some differences. Maybe a simple copy-paste could resolve those.
Ubi-Woofer Aug 28, 2020 @ 6:07am
You could try copying your installation across as stated previously (that's effectively what I was recommending by saying to use a drive you could move from one PC to the other, but without the hassle of transferring any files) but as I stated in my previous post, connecting to the internet and completing our troubleshooting would be my best recommendation should that not be successful.

If the game is crashing when trying to launch from Uplay PC, I do think you may be running an outdated version of Uplay PC and that should be fully-updated as to avoid issues.

How do I check my version of Uplay?

And by the way, it doesn't crash when trying to launch from Uplay. It infinitely loads. It only crashes when the game itself is loaded, whether through New Game or Continue.

Dear Woofer,

Thank you for your support, but I tried all the fixes suggested in the link. Still the same issue persists. Game freezes while on loading screen of a new game itself. Also, Ubi is providing only chat support during COVID19. I cant even submit my case on the website.

I am sorry to say but the product as well as the service of Ubi is poor. The game bug should have been fixed after so many years of its launch. If this is the kind of product and service Ubi provides then people will not buying your products in the future.

I will be raising for a refund. Requesting you to process the same ASAP.

And by the way, it doesn't crash when trying to launch from Uplay. It infinitely loads. It only crashes when the game itself is loaded, whether through New Game or Continue.

To check your Uplay version -

- Navigate to Uplay's installation location (default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher)
- Open "version.txt"

I believe the most likely solution here is what you both discussed already. Install the game on a drive using a separate, connected PC. Once installed, you could then try moving it to your disconnected PC.
