INSTALLATION:
- Place patch.fat & patch.dat in your data_win64 folder.

Default Directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\games\Watch_Dogs\data_win64\

This will differ with the Steam version, as well as any alternative drive setups you have, though it should still be in the general path.

**********************************************************************************************************
PLEASE NOTE:
Although the mod is now made to allow you to change visual settings in-game, it is still not recommended for it may still break the mod.
If you'd rather not risk it, change the visual setting values within the GamerProfile.xml file, found in your documents. Near the top, but not at the top, there will be a long line with all the visual settings and it's values listed.

Also, remember Ubisoft is also planning on adding an Auto-Update feature to UPlay, so keep an eye out for that so you can disable it, or at least for Watch Dogs. Starting UPlay in Offline Mode by default isn't a bad idea either.

**********************************************************************************************************
NOTICE FOR FUTURE GAMES:
Gamers, please be on your guard with Ubisoft. They already confirmed downgrading 'Tom Clancy's The Division,' like they did with Watch_Dogs and Far Cry 3.
Source: http://whatifgaming.com/the-division-developer-insider-we-already-downgraded-a-few-things/
It should be no surprise that they will do the same thing with all their games, including Far Cry 4.
It is commonly believed that Ubisoft does this to make consoles look not as bad, as well as boost pre-order sales. But together, we can fight their false advertisement and contract corruption. The evidence is within the mod. The mod doesn't just make the game look better, it makes the game run better.

It's not my fault you did something wrong.
It worked for me.
Try going through the instructions again.
Is there anyone here who has the frame lockups on a 780, 780Ti or Titan card and has now tried this mod? If so, does it remove the lock-ups?

I'm a bit reluctant to try it because I managed to screw up my game the last time I installed it.

I have several times, but when I click the check mark on the WDTool no cmd but I do get the box asking me if I want to run the program again. I have disabled all firewalls and antivirus, I have checked it as safe I have ran it as administrator, I have typed in numerous directories such as

C:\ Program Files(x86)\steam\steamApps\common\watch_Dogs

C:\ Program Files(x86)\steam\steamApps\common\Watch_Dogs\data_win64

No spaces except the program files, have followed all upper and lower cases. I have even checked the properties of the WDTool and changed the compatibility mode to windows 7, and checked the privilege box to run this program as an administrator

You state, and I quote "Now, when you go to create the patch file with the iphone look-alike installer, you may get a security warning message that won't go away. If this happens, go to Control Panel, Internet Options, Security, Custom Level, and under the Misc. field, there will be an option called "Launching appliations and unsafe files." Turn that to Enable. Press OK, and then Apply." Unquote.

Now, I go to my control panel, like you suggest I have a Network and Internet option, no security option, so I click on my windows logo, bottom left corner, type in internet options in the search programs and files box get internet options, security, then custom level, but I have no misc? so now I am confused. I have win7 home premium.

I am not doubting your post or what you say, but believe me if I can edit/change gamesave files at my will (which I can) and I know my way around my pc, then I do not know whats going wrong. I have "A" level english ,maths and sience, and a university education, so I am not stupid either, so I don't expect to see asterix symbols in your response to my simple question. And the fact that you stated and I quote "It's not my fault you did something wrong. It worked for me.Try going through the instructions again." Unquote.

I DID do as you stated, so I have done nothing wrong, just followed the instruction YOU gave, and it still does nothing. And just because it worked for you, does not mean it will work for others, So have abit of RESPECT when responding to someones questions and queries.

No need to be a jerk to the OP. I don't understand what your university education has to do with anything. If you were trying to establish a connection between your "education" and "following instructions," you're not doing a very good job.

I've met tons of 12-16 yo's who have fooled me into believing that they were significantly older then they really were. That statement about your education is at best, pointless. Prove it through your actions and words rather than saying you have a degree (which anyone can say).

Here are the exact instructionsn I followed on the main site, that worked for me.

1-Download the file, decompress the rar in any folder you want.
2-Open the config file located in "WDT_Data/config/WDTConfig.cfg
3-Place your Game_Path For example Game_Path=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Watch_Dogs\
4-Save the file and open the tool exe "WDTooL.exe"
5-Select your settings and press the tick button to apply changes
6-If something is stuck press the middle button to reset the settings
7-If everything is ok a path.dat file will be created in your data_win64 folder
8-Enjoy the game

If that still doesn't work, let me know. If you've already done these exact steps, let me know.

For the game path, go to the folder where Watch Dogs is located, then click on the address bar at the top that shows the sub-levels starting from your Drive (A/B/C/etc). Copy that and paste it into the game path in the WDTConfig file in notepad or equivalent text program.

The only jerk is the OP with his/her response to my original query, as for education, just letting the person know I am not stupid. And for your information, I am not between the age of twelve and sixteen, and I have not stated anywhere in my post that I have a degree (please show me where I have stated that fact?) as that is my buisiness (not yours) and as to my uniiversity education and what it has to do with this, is as follow.........I KNOW HOW TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS TO THE FULLEST< I CAN READ< I HAVE A GOOD UNDERSTANDING OF THE ENGLISH LANQUAGE<THEREFORE I AM NOT STUPID

I have followed all steps to the letter and still nothing, and NO it does not work or happen.

**Please correct me if I have made any grammatical errors with my written English**

@BadWippet
The frame lock-ups is said to be caused by Ultra Textures. The current version of the mod improved them, but they will still exist until the mod is finished at 1.0. Just two more updates!

@Iacchus
Thank you, lol.

@moodie19722
Well I see your problem now. You claim to have no Misc. field, but you do. You have to scroll pretty far down the list. And the tick box I'm talking about under Misc. is a bit further down from the Misc. title. So yes, you did miss a step. (:

Very true - and I'm reaching the point where it can't make the game much worse than it is, but it could make it a whole lot better. =) Downloading now!
Developers piss me off these days.
I'm so glad TheWorse made it possible for us to fight back.

I followed the steps, but it didnt create path.dat file. did you maybe mean patch.dat ?
Note: I believe the patch.dat file was not overwritten. It was there before applying the tool and after applying the tool the size 19,681 KB hasnt changed. Should it change? How do I know if the tool has worked? THanks
Ah, it is patch.dat. Path.dat is a typo made my TheWorse, not me.
I do not own the mod in any way, shape or form.
I'm just helping the author get it around town, so to speak.

As for knowing if it was overwritten or not, there should be a date/time stamp somewhere in the file info. There should be a Date created or date last edited, something along those lines. Though the one this program makes should have a small lock within the icon of the file.

Look in all data_win64 folders you can find. If you did not get an error message after the command prompt was dismissed, it should have worked.
Original post has been edited with more specific instructions and has made the typo clear.
