How to make SweetFX work with Watchdogs (No RadeonPro, yuck)

Okay, I thought I would explain this to people since it took me a while to figure it out myself, and I suspect others will suffer the same problems. Not to mention there is some mis-information out there claiming you need RadeonPro to get SweetFX working with Watch_Dogs. Which is wrong.

1. Download Boulotaur2024's x64 SweetFx 5.1 Injector from here: http://ge.tt/4CpDyZt/v/0
(Thanks to K-Putt for that link, gave me the missing...well link. Cheers anyway)

2. Extract it into the bin folder of your watch dogs directory (Under steamapps in the steam folder)

3. Go into the watch_dogs/bin and copy the files from the X64_dll's folder into the bin folder. Overwrite anything it asks you to.

4. Turn off Uplay Overlay, and maybe steam overlay.

5. Adjust settings in SweetFX_settings.txt, or download a preset and change things in SweetFx_Preset (Example: #include "SweetFX/Presets/SweetFX_Settings_Watch_Dogs_Realistic Preset.txt" instead of what it normally says. You can see I'm pointing it to the sweetfx folder, then presets and then the actual preset file. Remember if you have your preset somewhere other then the bin file, you will need to list the entire pathway.)

6. Profit.

Oh and this also allows for use of the Chromatic thing if you want to. Again, misinformation saying you couldn't do that because of RadeonPro.

According to Boulotaur2024 (Created the x64 d10&dx11 sweetfx) it's a windows 8.1 issue. DX11.2 is causing the problem and there is no way to trick it into using 11.1 unfortunatly. He has no plans to fix it as he doesn't use windows 8.1.

You can use RaedonPro to get it working in windows 8.1. This also works with Nvidia cards.

I got it to work using this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHGd1wwyILI. I used the links in his description to get sweetfx.

It now works for me in Win 8.1 64bit, and I have a 7970 GHZ edition.

I already tried to install SweetFX like that before but for whatever reason I can't start Watch Dogs... When I try it I get the message that "Watch_Dogs is not working anymore" ...

Nope, they have stuck their heads in the sand and are refusing to acknowledge anything. Furthermore, they have begun asking hosting sites like Mega.co.nz, to remove the mods. Probably because they have the data from the patch itself.

I myself got a notice from mega.co.nz for hosting one of the mods by MalDO for this game.

I cannot get SweetFX to work on this game. Tried manually, tried configurator, tried the Radeon Pro thing and now this. Still nothing. I don't know what's going wrong. I use it for other games, just can't seem to get this working. Any help?

I'll have to try this becuase using RadeonPro was a pain to use. It deactivated SweetFX each time I quit the game and going back to apply the settings that were clearly still there did nothing. So I just stopped using it. And yes I followed the instructions on how to get it working with RadeonPro to the letter, and it STILL decided it wanted to reset itself.

Hopefully this will be a new better way. Permanant too.

Sorry it took so long. I was trying to find ways of making it work before I responded. Sadly this didn't work for me, Maybe SweetFX just doesn't like Windows 8.

Radeon Pro is really easy to use though. You all know that you don't need an AMD card to use it right? Nivida works too.

Strangely enought my radeonpro tool has the sweetfx always greyed out, no chance to click it :(

I tried to do it with SweetFX on my own, nothing worked. All overlays off. No Fraps etc. I then downloaded this file you linked and overwrote all the files and moved the dll to the bin folder and still nothing worked.

Am I missing something here?

Just a heads up, in MWO(MechWarrior Online) when you inject SweetFX you have to move the dll files into another folder not normally associated with the games exe and you also have to move a COPY of the games EXE into another folder with those dll even though it will not launch the moved exe it just needs to link to it. Maybe this is the problem? Anyone?
