There is another free solution. If you have a free Watch Dogs Stadard Edition in EGS (giveaway), you can install and play 15 min that version. After that I played Watch Dogs Complete, and multiplayer is working.
Game is still online and people are playing it. I don't understand why it doesn't work with Steam though. The mp is handled by Ubisoft servers, not Steam, and it's P2P when you play.
I can't test it either - I have owned Watch Dogs since release in my Uplay account. I own Legion on Steam too, but that separated out the online and offline to two separate game modes.
I MANAGED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE with Ubisoft support, but it took a while. Here is the information I had to provide until the support team gave me a new activation key for the game, which would allow me to play online:
1. I had to specify my network device and the router model I had at home. Then, specify what stage of the game's progress I was at.
2. I had to provide all possible proof of the game's purchase on Steam (purchase history description screen, the game in my library, etc.).
3. I had to record a short video showing the online activation going wrong, in the first scripted online invasion mission.
4. I had to provide complete information about my notebook, through the Dxdiag and Windows MSINFO reports.
5. I asked the various technicians assisting me if the company was aware of this connection problem with the versions being sold, and why they don't release a simple update patch that fixes the problem, instead of dealing with a series of support requests, which increases their costs.
6. About 10 days after providing all possible information about the problem, my account, and my computer, I asked them how long this investigation would take. After all, I had provided a lot of data considered sensitive, and according to the legislation in my country, they cannot keep possession of this data for longer than necessary, and if it took longer, I would be forced to take legal action against the company.
7. They asked me to verify the security of my account. I checked it using the link they sent me, and then they finally provided me with the key.
8. From the opening of the call (May 23, 2024) to the effective resolution of the case (July 31, 2024), 2 months and one week passed.
9. If you have this problem, and you provide all the key information right away, your problem may be resolved faster.
