Sorry to hear you are running into some issues. Did the mini map ever appear for you, or was it always missing? Also, are you noticing any other graphical issues while playing?
Double check to make sure you are currently using one of the following supported video cards
nVidia GeForce GTX460 / GT500 / GT600 / GT700 series
AMD Radeon HD5850 / HD6000 / HD7000 / R7 / R9 series

Hey, I plan on being a game designer, and learning to mod is a good start before I get real training, so this is a start.
Plus, there is a good side about everything... unless you go to hell and never played DooM.
Open it with notepad and find these lines:
UseCompassMiniMap="1"
UseMinimap="1"
Yours must have a zero instead of a one, change it to "1".
Thanks to this, I can now enjoy gameplay without the hud, save the reticule... and the stupid ammo / gun counter.
Really should look into finding a way to make the only HUD elements existent in my game being waypoints, the battery, and the crosshairs... bonus points if I end up finding a way to put the hud elements behind Aiden, like the profiler and some other special elements are placed.
