even if legion performs poorly, watch dogs 1 always exists
i believe watch dogs 2 isnt an utter failure, but i didn't like it too much either
they were pretty spot on with "you are now less valuable than the data you produce" which is actually pretty accurate irl too
While i like hte first one, do you all have short term memories? Do you understand how disastrous that game was for them and the perception it left the franchise with? You loving it is irrelevant to the status of the franchise and the public perception. That may not matter to you, but to the rest of the world, it does
that being said, i do love WD1 but i cant act like everythings all great
Unlike WD1 and 2 It has crouch button, that means it's already a much better stealth game. But there's more, unlike WD1 when you takedown enemy, you can freely rotate your camera view and plan your next move, especially if there's another guard nearby. It has tons of non-lethal weapons and tools, even cars on streets a self-driving, so you don't have to run over pedestrians while driving from A to B. Which makes it a fantastic game for stealthy non-lethal players.
But the most important things Legion did for a stealth genre are these. if you don't pull out your gun, enemies don't shoot at you. Basically they don't shoot first. It means when you get detected, you can beat a guard in H2H combat and keep playing stealth. It makes stealth way more smooth than before. And because of permadeth your character can die, so stealth is way more intense now, especially on Resistance difficulty they recently added.
Basically. Legion is a much, much, much better stealth game then previous titles. No wonder it was made by Splinter Cell devs, including Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory devs.
But the overall gameplay is better as well, because it's way more varied, more systemic than WD1 and even WD2. It means that you have way more options for how to deal with every gameplay situation and how to achieve your goal. You can play it using a spider drone only, you can bomb enemies from cargo drone, you can hack offensive drones and shoot enemies, you can get in the area using an operative with disguise a la Hitman, you can make guards your allies, etc... Right now there are tons of cool operatives with cool abilities in the game, including Aiden Pearce himself. You can play the whole game as him. WD2 and WD1 can't hold a candle to Legion.
And here's the another thing the game improved and innovate on. It simulates NPCs, so now when you scan someone and see a small snippet of text, there's gameplay behind it, because that NPC has its own schedule, it's own problems. Right now he's there in front of you, but an hour later he'll be somewhere else dealing with some shady blackmailer according to his own internal schedule. And if you make something good or bad to him, he'll remember that. Btw, that's why Londoners feel more alive than people on streets in previous games. So even playing a vigilante is way more interesting than in WD1.
WD1 (especially Bad Blood DLC) has a much better car chases, because you can't shoot while driving, and a much better gunplay, because you have focus mode, 4 weapons slots and all your weapons with you (including sniper rifles). I give you that. But everything else besides story (Bloodline DLC is very well written) Legion does better. So as far as I'm concerned, Ubisoft improved Watch Dogs.
