Ads to get free diamonds.

I wanted to ask if ads work on Steam where I can get +3 diamonds, or is it only available in the mobile version?

It does not seem to work in the desktop version. I asked about it 6 months ago and their tech support basically gave me a non-answer. It has never worked for me but I don't use the mobile version.
