I can see where you're coming from but I think it might be difficult to play a game like Menace in 2d style. An isometric environment where you want to establish a sense of scale between buildings, mecha, tanks, and foot infantry, all of which are destructible, would be very tough to pull off in 2D (whereas Battle Brothers IIRC didn't have any superlarge units or destructible environments).
