MENACE
Demo 3
Yea I know when it's done but would be nice if we could finish one engagement and be able to do another with all we have accumulated....

I think we may have to wait for early access to see the strategic layer. However, I would love to play it now.
I would not mind a longer chain of operation, or a different set of enemies and starting gear
yeah stopping after the 3rd fight is a serious blueball. it's a good thing i suppose it means the game is fun but looting cool things you can't try after the last battle is so frustrating

Learn to code, check how the current demo functions, learn all its secret. When done apply to Menace for a job to assist in faster development:P
The next demo needs an integrated tutorial.
Its already pretty extensive for a demo, they could as well limited it to one battle with fixed gear. The point of a demo is to make you get the game, not let you play tons, get tired of it and move on.

Yes and No - it is also sort of a QA. Devs can get a very early feedback, before the game is even released to an EA, where people might be more vocal about some issues.

I'm fairly sure the devs value the feedback and they can fine tune some of what appears to be a fairly early game setup. Obviously they do not want to spoil the mid-late to late+ game.

I imagine though, that fighting against bugs or rogue army with some different equipment or some additional squad leader with different perks, and being able to go from one biome to another and go through 2 consecutive full ops (and test some of the campaign mechanics) would be that big of an issue.

It is however a decision to make against the time they have. They've already have been moving the launch of the game a few times, and I'd imagine they want to stick to Feb 6th release of the EA.

Depends also, how active they want to be with post EA release in terms of patches. If they'll be doing weekly/bi-weekly patches, then probably it also does not make much sense to make the demo more extensive.
Releasing a demo for an unreleased game seems like a novel move to me, although I could be wrong. It is a bit weird, considering that the release will be EA. We're essentially getting a primer for a primer here. I'm not complaining though. It creates a lot of "legitimate" hype. You played it, and now you want more. It's different than just hearing about this and that and being hopeful that it will be good.

This whole demo with a couple of tweaks could be a full game on its own, as a kind of rogue-lite. I'm glad they're being more ambitious than this though, to me the rogue-lite formula is used up and mostly made for people who aren't invested in a game.

Reading some interviews of Overhype, it seemed like they were not 100% confident in their design. I remember that the release of BB was dissapointing for them back in the day. The reception of the demo will help I hope. There's a couple of guys whining of course, but overall it seems to be very positive. I can't wait to buy this myself. I'd buy it right now if I could, no doubt, and I never buy games on release.
