Better than the phone version! If you like casual games with combat and party planning~ this is it! Medals (used to recruit members and premium shop) can be purchased with in game gold ♥

For a Kairosoft game, it has some of the best content they ever did, with some of the worse systems they ever created. There is a great game behind here, but too many remnant of a freemium model, making this a thumb down even with my playtime in it.

The good :
* so much quests, maps to explore, monsters to recruit, jobs, ... A lot of content to see
* a new game plus with a rebalanced difficulty, making for a potential good experience again
* graphics are still top notch
* the grinding is real but quite fun to watch and influence

The bad :
* timegates. A lot. Building things, buying medals, hatching eggs, getting stamina back, ... Even the New game ++ is timegated behind 200 hours playtime...
* the medals resource is not balanced correctly for a premium game in my opinion. Medals can be bought on an increasingly long cooldown. Mine is higher than 30 hours right now. This resource is the key to most progression systems.
* stamina is ok at first, but since 1 minute of real time equals 1 stamina, the current 50+ stamina quests I'm encountering now are hard to swallow. (you can spend medals to refil stamina...)

Overall, the content is paced slowly compared to usual kairosoft games, and intended to be played long term. This is a departure from what I was going for and I can't recommand it in that state, at least with no caps on medal timegates.

Fantastic game like the mobile game, which I have hundreds of hours in and it's nice to have a new start.

This game is quite fun but its very very grindy. You need to spend several hours getting money and waiting to get medals. I don't understand why Kairosoft put their mobile games on Steam just to make it like the mobile version where you have to constantly wait. I paid for your game I shouldn't have to wait. What a let down... I think I'm done with Kairosoft games...

One Piece is real

I like the game, but right now the UI is way too big with some elements not even fitting on the screen.

I want to start out by saying initially I really enjoyed the game, however it suffers from forced time elements and feels similar to a freemium game.

The Good:
- A lot more content and involved mechanics than most other Kairosoft games
- Great graphics
- Lots of options around recruiting members and building your ship
- Fun pirate theme

The Bad:
- Stamina is used for quests and is time based, so you’ll either have to leave the game and come back or use medals to refill it
- Medals are needed to advance and are slow to obtain. While you can buy them with gold it is limited and resets only after several hours
- Feels like a mobile game meant to be played in chunks throughout the day
- Due to the design it comes across as a freemium game with only small changes
- Can be extremely grindy, particularly later on (which is made worse by the time aspect)
- The best way to get good recruits is the dice game so feels pointless to level up and change jobs with any other characters as they’ll never be as good
- Menus are fairly clunky and not everything is explained

Overall it was an extremely promising game that fell flat. If you’re alright with short but frequent play sessions and a need to grind then you’ll probably like it.

I've waited for this game for 5 years.

In High Sea Saga DX, you will sail a ship to different islands, recruit sailors of different classes, design the interior of your ship, and much more. It follows a similar setup to Beastie Bay DX. Medals are an important currency for recruiting people and unlocking upgrades. You can buy them with gold and the store refreshes often letting repeatedly buy medals for gold.

I do suggest manually saving before recruiting or returning to the base. You can find yourself without enough medals or gold to successfully recruit prisoners. You can always engage in battles to get them back, though. Not to mention, more crew members begin to show up in the tavern as it levels.

You can develop the base island with new shops and amenities. Although you choose where to place them, it's not a free-build situation like other Kairosoft games. You can even hire crew that set up little shops on your ship, too! Like other Kairosoft games, the king will give you goals to achieve which unlocks even more to the game.

My one complaint is that the first impression isn't great. The controls are a little worse than other Kairosoft games since it forces you to slowly move the cursor. But you will get accustomed to that.
