I think it started with an original scuzzer, then build the new scuzzer, research it, build the newer scuzzer, research the newer scuzzer and then you have the flying one.
nah, that's how you get the normal scuzzer mkIII. I remember like almost 15 years ago now I saw someone explain a way to edit some files to make the unused flying security scuzzer avaliable.
I almost feel like I'm crazy because I can't find any mention of it anywhere online, but I know for a fact I had done it before and it was pretty over powered.
They didn't have the normal security scuzzer skin, they looked like scuzzer mkIII, but they could fly around and shoot people and hack locks and stuff.
It really sucks that most of the good user made things for this game were lost to time. I've tried to ♥♥♥♥ around within the game files to recreate some of this stuff, but it's so archaic from what I know that I have no real idea where to even start.
I hope to god one of the original modders comes to the surface and remakes some their mods and hosts them in a more permanent space than what was available like 20 years ago.
I don't think we officially implemented a MkIII security scuzzer. In the codebase we have Scuzzer, Wheeled Scuzzer, Flying Scuzzer, and Police Scuzzer as the different scuzzer types.
Saying that, the movement speed for all characters was taken from the animations themselves, so conceivably someone may have duplicated Data/scutterboost.ssm and renamed it Data/policescutter.ssm. I can't guarantee that will work (I can't check it out myself at the moment), but it might... Obviously if you're going to mess around with those data files then make sure you back up policescutter.ssm first.
If anyone finds any old mod bits then feel free to let me know, and I'll see if I can host it on www.startopia.co.uk so we don't lose stuff.
I'll try and make a proper Startopia announcement soon.
Guy
Hold up, am I getting this right, none of you guys are involved in Starbase Startopia? The new one thing on steam?
This one.

I'm not that bright but I was hoping it's some sort of sequel
I'm so happy that someone officially involved responded. I'll try to upload whatever weird stuff I've picked up over the years.
And I'm glad to know the weird skuzzer MKIII was just some kind of mod. I swear I remembered the mod saying it was some unimplemented security thing they found in the code. That being a total made up story makes way more sense because this thing essentially made the game stupid easy. And I've also been digging around in the guts of the game to find it myself with no luck.
Edit: Btw, just out of curiosity, is there maybe any interest in making a spiritual successor? This was my favorite game when I was like 10 years old, and it's still my favorite game to this day. Nothing has ever gotten close to it in terms of game play though.
