broken and unresponsive.
Sarcastic reply noted. Still unable to get Omikron sound to play through TV speakers. Glad you don't have any problems though!
This game is beyond broken and so-called developers or community won't even gonna try to help you with you rproblem. Deal with it and better ask for refund while you still can.
I'm guessing you have Windows 10, or else I'd suggest playing with Stereo Mix settings. But I heard/read they removed that from Win 10? (I'm on 7). I haven't actually tried rerouting audio through HDMI cables yet though, just posting a couple of suggestions.
I tried both routing and duplicating with Audio Router (and both with and without the "Soft" option). Have tried turning off 3D Audio within the game, and also reconfiguring the audio sources to be sure (stereo vs. 5.1).
I do have Windows 10. Do you mean the Volume Mixer? It is there, Omikron ("Runtime.exe") shows up there, but only under "Speakers" (laptop) if at all.
It's like the game just cannot "see" that playback source for some reason. If I Disable the Speakers so it has no choice but the Intel Display Audio, I get some error message like "impossible to initialize audio" and the game won't start.
I've made it to Juanpur and The Awakened in the game now, so it's just an annoyance I've accepted at this point, and hasn't prevented me from enjoying the game, although I'm not sure whether I've spent more time so far messing with configs or playing the game.
My advice from my other experiences:
Do NOT press LEFT at the Video options from the default 600x400. (Trying to save some time from pressing RIGHT through all the other resolutions, BIG mistake, lol). The game will crash and is nearly unrecoverable!
Do NOT change the Video setting for Primary Video Display Driver or whatever, trying to get it to use your graphics card. Same result as the previous.
If you do find yourself f***ed from the previous choices, try changing Compatibility options (on Runtime.exe in the game folder) to Windows XP, or Windows 7.
Running the game from Steam seems to ignore the Compatibility options you set. I have to start the game from Windows Explorer. No idea why.
Gave up trying to use the Steam controller after reaching the shooting, fighting, and swimming parts. It's not even worth it trying to configure the controller, probably also "impossible", since the Steam overlay etc won't seem to work in this configuration. Mouse and keyboard actually work just fine. (Can't recommend Logitech Wireless Touch Keyboard K400 enough.)
Now that I type this out, I wonder if the Steam overlay is actually the reason I need to start it from Windows Explorer.
Advice online suggested patching DirectX with something called dgVoodoo2. This seemed to help, but also seemed to cause additional issues. In the end I reverted to not using it.
What issues did I have with dgVoodoo2? The graphics were all tinted red when starting the game, changing the resolution in game each time fixed it but was annoying. Mouse and keyboard got disabled switching to other applications unless running as Admin. Couldn't switch using Alt-Tab, had to try Alt-Enter to go to Windowed mode then try Windows key + TAB to try to switch, this would work some times, other times would hang and I'd have to try to kill Runtime.exe. None of these are issues now using just Compatability options.
Instead, I did get the game to use my graphics card instead of integrated graphics using the NVIDIA Control Panel and overriding Program Settings for Omikron specifically to use High performance NVIDIA processor. But this only worked in conjunction with the above mentioned Compatibility options.
Sorry for turning this into a rant. But I burnt a lot of time this weekend with this game's quirks. Hope this helps someone. Or at least can commiserate.
It's basically for recording "what you hear" on PC, but it can also redirect (or rather duplicate) output to an audio output (I've only used it to get audio for OBS screen video recorder going a while ago). I guess you have to have some other (HDMI audio) outputs listed in the "Playback Devices" list for it to work. Also ofc the HD audio driver would have to be opted in when installing the graphics drivers. For example I have several nVidia HD audio outputs listed, but on my system they are all grayed out (also I don't use HDMI for my monitor, just DVI).
Found a somewhat relevant video here, which looks more like duplicate audio streams to two differenct outputs.
Also, I happened to find this just now, might be of interest? SoundSwitch[www.softpedia.com]
EDIT: Also, no problem! :) Hope you figure it out!
EDIT#2: Typos/clarification.
I press space, and it skips them. That doesn't work for you?
