Worth in 2026?
I'm considering installing it, I don't want to spend any money on it. Worth it then?

Could you clarify why not?
If you are doing PvE only. And like to just open the game play casually kill monsters. It is great game and looks amazing. Otherwise, it is garbage actually.
First, it is heavily pay to win, you could do anything literally with money. The more you spend the better you get in the game.
Second, the game world is basically empty, it doesn't have anything interesting whatsoever. Just empty world with monsters scatered across the map. Nothing else.
Third, the game story is absolute garbage, boring, nonsensical and lack depth. If you are into games with stories that make you "attached" to the game world then you are in the wrongest spot literally.

In summary: You can enjoy the game only and only if you are either a casual player who doesn't care (for example, you go outside big cities in the night, you get one-shotted by a whale, your reaction is "meh, I don't care, it is fine", or you try to get a boss weapon but the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crazy RNG system in this game didn't smile at you today your reaction is "meh, fine, I can try again next weekend when I feel like it") or you aren't a casual player but a "whale" who afford paying thouthands of dollars to keep being relevant and compete.
Go play Guild Wars 2. A large part of it is free, no Pay 2 Win, large playerbase.

T&L is a beautiful game to look at, but play-wise they made so many mistakes and are taking no steps to correct it.
p2w
time gates for gear
guild controll for events that part of time gates for the gear u want
alot of force pvp for time gates
rage quitters in dungeons right at the start.

i haven't played in a long time i quit like the first month of launch due to the time gates and heavy amount of bots that took over everything.
The regional server merge temporally gave some life back to the game, but out of 13 servers total there is around 6100 players ATM. IMO, it is still not a sustainable game. Granted they give you up to T2 Weapons and Armor for just following the storyline, but after that, a lot of people find progress as an extremely hard grind. The game developers, Amazon or whoever you decide to point this realization to that in the early parts of the game, basically last year, they where handing out rewards like candy. Now everything is very hard to obtain in quantity. Now everything can be tied to money spent to play. P2W. Don't get me wrong, you can play the game F2P but in a at a very painful slowed pace.

Plus, the toxicity of the game has increased IMO, especially now with the regional server merges. If you like a game atmosphere where daily grinding and tasks are needed, and feel you have to report to work to play, just to stay up in the game, this game will suit you well. This is only my opinion. I have not been playing a long time like a lot of people that may say the game is great, they most likely have been playing for awhile and have reached a level that beginners will need to work, and have received everything when it was given out in rewards in major abundance. and made available through the cash shop by tons of your own money.

THIS IS JUST MY OPION, an opinions vary.
If you have cash to play it, go for it. Not sure how long T&L will be around. Seems the game designers are designing for one purpose and that seems to be the cash shop. But, us PvP players will keep it afloat for as long as we can :)
Cash has it's rewards, without it you are left in the dust, unless you want a very long non-rewarding grind to be F2P.
u know the game is super ♥♥♥♥♥♥ when the only reason its not dead yet is because of the cash shop and p2w whales instead of actual good content lolllll

This.

Though in a F2P game, cash shop is really the only reason the game lives.
I would say, for casual players who don't pvp, very worth it. if you pvp it's very pay to win. But if you find a hand full of people you like to play with, you can put in a little time, have a lot of fun and only spend money if you feel like it (I spent some on cosmetics but don't really spend money on anything else). It's a good game with a lot of good points to it. Give it a go, maybe you'll like it!
Players who are good at PVP will thrive with some googling / guides.
Players who are terrible at PVE will still thrive with some googling / guides.

Just keep in mind that most Defensive stats are for PVP if you're gonna tank.

I've played since launch, love the game - despite being fairly behind the rest. Improvements have been great.
Do not START as a PVE tank though - you will STRUGGLE to get any good loot or kill things in a good amount of time. Plus, dungeon ques at low level gear are role-less. They allow anyone to queue together, regardless of if they're a healer, dps, or tank.

The game is beautiful, always something to do, and lots to collect, and housing is fun.
I did not even start before 2026 :D. I like to play games when they mature. Not keen on being a beta tester for the developers ;)

yeah I love the game for the most part. One thing I don't like is that you can't grind content you like endlessly. They put limitations so if you want to play long hours, you have to do content that is not your cup of tea or just play short hours and play something else.
