After this last update (1.7.0) the game seems to have messed up the settings. Instead of doing as everyone is saying, to move the WHOLE setting list from low to epic and then low again, use this mean instead. The affected settings, after the update messed them up, that seems to not get switched over what you select are:
Level Of Detail
Character Shadow Quality
Lightning Quality
Terrain Quality
Volumetric Clouds
Volumetric Fog
To TEMPORARY fix the issue you have to move them 1 slider up and then revert lowering it.
I suggest to do this one because these are the only settings i found out to be affecting the performance issue everyone is facing right now. Messing the whole preset will make a total mess of all the settings (as some seems to NOT go on LOW even if you choose LOW as preset).
BUT BE AWARE. If you reboot you'll have to do that again because at moment the game ignore completely what you do if you close the game.

heres the transcript of what's written there:
"This doesn't fix at all the issue. It only does on the run when the client is running. When you close it and reopen it you have apparently the settings on the right settings but in fact they are higher. Meddling with them AGAIN will result into applying the correct settings. But every time you reboot the issue comes out again.

1) use a higher quality setting (ie from low to medium)
2) restart the game, and set back to the desired values or setting
Repeating this is anoying because the only fix for character stuck or teleporting back (another bug), is restarting the game, so now I have 2 bugs to fix, with double game restarts and time wasted.
