What can Throne & Liberty add to beat burnout?
The game is amazing. Truly a staple in time..especially with so many mmorpgs failing. IMHO in part to the rapid updates to the game. Probably because they had a year of content to release to catch us up.

However, with all said and done and how amazing the game is...when you are done grinding for gear or just grinding. (I have reached rank 43 on seasonal tier leaderboard) You kind of hit the burnout stage. Yeah there is amitoi, fishing, and other morph collecting and stuff like that...but truly this game seems to be missing something. Something that can be a main focus that isnt weapons/armor/gear.

One thing that comes to mind is pvp. Actual 12v12 or 16v16 battlegrounds. These are fun time sinkers usually you can repeat over and over for a while. What else can throne make? There has to be something deeper in an mmorpg then just gear!

1) Actually have crafting. - They don't really have it now. Crafting is so laughably non existent. You technically CAN craft... but no one really does. You either grind a dungeon, or grind coins from a dungeon to basically buy it. You can't even really craft purple items.
a) Artificer/alchemy for runes, gems, etc
b) cooking
c) equipment
d) jeweler
d) furniture - Expand the "amatoi house" (They likely already have this planned)
e) gatherer - No idea why this isn't already a thing. Literally everything is in place for this to be a thing.

Edit: A real conversation on Discord VC two nights ago -
"So doesn't anyone even do the crafting for daily points on the battle pass?"
"No."
"The latest one has 40 items Uncommon+, and no one has enough of those lithography things for crafting them."
"Yeah, I guess crafting sucks, then."

2) Allow lower lucent items to be sold, or at least add a sollent shop on the marketplace. You can't sell 3-4 cooking items on that market because the cost is so low for lucent it doesn't matter, and there is literally a cost floor. You can't sell them for sollent on the market, either.

3) Quests:
a) Seasonal quests. - Add quests that can only be done in a certain season.
b) Unique quests - Add quests that are dependent on X or Y conditions being met. There are already so many global variables that can be used to make this fun. (Time/weather/etc)
b1) Limited quests - quests that happen randomly, can only be started from one of like 5 random NPCs. They don't tell you who, when, what. Finding them is like a diamond in the rough. A needle in a haystack.
c) Class quests - You have to be a class to even start it.
c1) Skill quests - You can only get the skill (or skill mod) from the quest - Combine this with any of the above quest ideas and holy crap this game just got so much deeper and varied

4) Add content for guilds that are not on top. Exclusively limit the top guild's participation, or even give something to small guilds to make them more fun or rival the top guild. There is currently no cost to holding the castle. If you can, you will. There is no real reason to not want to other than the hassle of defending it.

5) Allow adding equipment pieces to mirror boutique - You can laugh at this all you want, but such a system literally carries FF through between patches. Give them dye options.

6) Add content that spans zones. Carriage raids, guild escorts, etc.

7) There is literally no reason for me to be in the low level area. Ever. And this game rushes you to lvl 50... so about half the current map isn't even used/visited.
a) Increase drop rates for cooking mats. - Currently cooking is basically you going to a vendor, buying the mats, going to the cooking station, cooking - I was curious to grind some mats once... they never dropped. Ever. From a lvl 5 mob as a lvl 50 grinder. Never dropped. Even after 105 or so kills.
b) events for higher levels in lower level zones. Something like a boss fight. Anything.

PvP always comes to mind.
Anytime, any game is beginning to fizzle out, there's that tiny minority of players who always suggest that PvP is the answer.
Even if it's already a PvP-focused-mmorpg the answer is PvP. More PvP. How do they get more PvP??? Why, by forcing PvP onto more players that's how. More Bait & Switch PvP. Lure in players with the promise of PvE and then ... WHAM ... flag 'em for PvP. They'll be killed instantly, so, no need to worry about that.

More PvP is always the answer.

and, No one, ... I mean NO ONE ... will ever consider the possibility that PvP is the reason for the initial dissatisfaction. No. That's just unthinkable. PvP NOT the answer? PvP the problem???

If they fixed perma disable/stun CC - It wouldn't be so bad.
If they fixed the grapple issues/F interaction in Arena - the entire game would benefit, but especially PvP

And to add to above:
8) Summaries
a) Summarize what killed you - Arenas, World, PvP
b) Summarize the dmg dealt/"contribution" - Raid Bosses, Co-ops, Secret Dungeons

I like alot of these ideas. I was thinking the other day, other then 4 pillage zones and throne why dont they add some little ones that spawn outside the castle.
Definitely would be awesome to have mobs have a rare chance to drop some interesting items. Similiar to the amitoi drops and morph drops. Maybe they can have cosmetics, collectibles or like you say furniture for amitoi. I was surprised to see no rare roaming spawns in the game. There are little loot goblins during the christmas event that drop a crap ton. Fishing log was a great addition they just gotta focus similiar stuff sometimes.

I used to play a game in which if you killed a mob 1k times you would get the skin. Can be similiar to this. Or just like world of warcrafts achievement system where you would have a book and log to complete that records your accounts status. This can unlock titles, cosmetics etc.

I can see the game becoming more and more well rounded and have some good features eventually.

I think more group based content. Not random q with anybody and faceroll it. Stuff that you have to work together. But not as intense as trials. If you really think about it other then tiers the game is pretty solo. Theres no real effort anymore in most group based content.

I know this thread is about how throne and liberty can help combat burnout and making the game better, but,for me to combat burnout is ,
I just play less and go outside. I exercise ,catch up on some sleep, shower, brush teeth ,eat, play another game that is less competitive and changed my ways on how i approach the way I play throne and liberty .
I went from 16hrs to 10minutes-5 hrs a day. I mostly play this game while riding my stationary bike. Controllers are great.

Burnout is when people feel less interest in getting on the game. So they quit. Taking a break and doing more in real life is two separate things. Sounds like you needed to play less games.

I posted a suggestion a day ago, We need active Game Masters(GM) in short that can host unlimited events per server to make things more fun. Like what the old style Ragnarok in old days where the GM hosts events in random times such as boosting the world boss drop rate, pvp roleplay, pve events, roleplaying and many more

This an interesting question. I like horizontal progression. Things that are not a gear grind, not adding to my power but add to the experience. Collectibles, pretty things to go after. Like, Unlocking a Christmas tree for the guild hall by an additional guild holiday contract. But really, i'm 400 hours in and have not yet started to feel the kind of burnout I got from New World after a pretty short period of time...

I actually really like this idea. A person whose job it is to randomly spawn a boss or start an event sounds great!

So, I've been thinking about this question some more and with over 400 hours played what has kept the game interesting for me is 1) the variety of ways to play the game and 2) the number of paths to advance. What eventually killed world of Warcraft for me was being forced into mythic +'s or raids to 'advance". The "gear grind" really killed the game for me but in this game I've yet to "feel" the need to grind for BIS gear I dontt' pvp and the pve always seems doable with less than the tip top best gear). So my "progression" is exploring, finishing side quests, getting the cute little pet things, morphs, pigging an occasional instance or running an open world with my guild. I even like having the Christmas battle pass stack on top of the winter battle pass. I think the variety of ways to play is what has held my interest.

I think it's really the PVP players that are getting burnt out. The filthy PVE players like myself are just enjoying the event, fishing, throwing snowballs and having an all around good time! Cheers!

increase abyss token usage and contract accept cap
these 2 so boring and slow anyone trying to clear it after stacking it for a week = ez burnout
Lutece1979 Dec 17, 2024 @ 2:27am
- random loot with random stats on mobs
- not being able to kick a tank because he missed an aggro or a healer because he missed a heal
