Black Desert itself is trash, but the fighting is done really well.
The BD combat is why I refunded it years back. There is no "out of date" or "new great thing". Some people simply don't like certain combat systems. My argument to a BD system is, really good players just macro the combinations and still use one button, so what's the point.
Most succesfull mmorpg's have that.......
It's more of a spectacle. It's more free of form. Inputs are more skill and movements based.
Skill expression is given a great deal more of importance.
Tab-targeting used to be the norm, because old processors were designed with single threading in mind.
Single-threading meant commands were shovelled into a queue system whereby a single command could go through the pipeline, one at a time. This is why GCD or SCD were a thing.
Make no mistake, the only reason these devs are still using this antiquated system is because they lack the talent in-house to have developed an action combat scheme. And that's a big red flag for the longevity of this game.
Tap target, on the other hand, is unfortunately a bit boring and old school.
To use tab target over action in 2025 seems more of a design choice
They probably wanted gear to matter more than skill for tnl I bet
But I will give it another try if the update they are talking about ever comes.
