Yes... but in a "fair" way, if that makes any sense, lol. If you swipe, you can buy everything you need for a ridiculously geared character to slaughter content. BUT... you literally remove the main driving force behind playing. Because you'll still be doing the content that would be needed by your guild or your friends to progress themselves and just play the game. But, other than the satisfaction of killing less geared players of certain weapon specs (more on this later). You'll have little sense of accomplishment in the game outside of PvP. Swiping is the fastest way to losing interest in the game, imo. But, even if you do swipe and gear out instantly. No matter what weapon combo and gear you go with. There will be another weapon combo/gear setup that will wreck your face in. For example, if you swipe and go crossbow/dagger. Tanks are going to literally laugh at you. If you go bow/wand to be an uber-healer. Greatsword/dagger players are going to roflstomp you into the ground. And all of these unfavorable matchups are likely going to be at the hands of people less geared than you. At which point, you swiping feels bad. Because you're not going to win against every spec. And, since most pvp is large-scale fighting. Any spec is going to get wrekt if focused on (except tanks with dedicated and not crowd controlled healers).

At the same time. If you just play the game organically (i recommend getting the battle passes as it amounts to being like paying for a subscription). You'll get drops that you don't need or want. That can be sold to those who are swiping or just happen to have made good lucent playing the game. I accidentally bought the wrong lucent pack from the shop when going to buy the battle pass. I used the extra lucent to buy some weapon lithographs off the auction house. I made four weapons with them, as i had plenty of materials. Three of them were great successes (that's rare, just to be transparent). That means those are bind on equip and can be sold as-is on the auction house. The lithographs (schematics in this games terminology) cost me 400 lucent each (roughly $8 real world value). Each of the three crafting greater successes sold between four and eight times that lucent cost. I was then able to splurg and buy trait unlocks for some of my T2 gear I had gotten. By swiping a little bit. I was able to get roughly six times the value back from the purchase. With a little luck and playing the market. But, that wouldn't have been possible without having the materials to make the weapon. Those require you to actively play the game and cannot be readily swiped for in the auction house.

So, yes, there is p2w in this game. But if you're an active player who at least buys the battlepass and progresses in it. You can absolutely get to a point where you can make more lucent than you need for purchasing and getting the next battlepass (or several). But you will need a good and active guild to reliably and consistently run the content to reach that goal as well.

I hope this even-handed response with context helps you decide. I will say that this game is difficult to get into when coming in late. The expansion "catch-up" battlepass expired last month. This current one is still good for a new or returning player. Just not AS good as the expansion launch one was. You'll also want to buy the leveling pass and expansion leveling pass. To get all of the stuff those grant as you progress in the game. Total, you're looking at buying the $49.99 lucent bundle to afford all that alone. That will net you some extra lucent to buy stuff when you hit max level. Also, if you go over to mmo rpg (.) com, they still have their article on the expansion launch of Talandre. Where you can get a coupon code to redeem in the game for a full set of T2 blue gear. Which will make leveling up super fast. As well as get your foot in the door for all the PvE endgame content.

Good luck if you make the jump in the game. And find a good guild that fits your playstyle, if you can. That will seriously make or break your decision to stick with this game or not.
Yes and no, depends on if you want to high end pvp or not. If your casual, totally F2P, if you want to be a murder hobo, you'll have to pay...
Game is p2w by definition but you can make it as f2p in 2x or 3x the time of a p2w player

Yes it is. You can get around it with luck , but eh . At its core the game is p2w like all korean games . Why fool ourselves about it.

In some respect everything is "p2w" yes even shooter games like Counterstrike, Valorant, and Marvel Rivals. Any game of skill like Chess, Checkers, needs a lot of time.

Both use time, and if you want to climb up the ranks, either pay for time and earn experience, pay for coaching, or both. "Pure talent" to climb is difficult to find. Monsters like Donk in Counterstrike sheeesh.

Again, I'm basing Time as Money here.

So called free games that are basically P2W really wind me up i can remember a time when you could only buy the game you wanted to use or maybe get it free ..... no P2W or micro transactions to make you a bit better than other players , you progressed through a game purely by fine tuning your own skills.

Almost all so called free games now follow the same format ... you get the game and then at a certain point you get hammered by AI or players who have spent money to beat others.

You now have a choice ... you either spend money to try and keep up with all the other players who have deep wallets or you say .... its was fun for a while and then you uninstall it.
It is not black or white, p2w or play to win. Nobody works for free and they need some money to maintain this game and make a new one. For me, financially, it is far way less expensive than other experiences and it was a good investment. For example, I payed less than a game I bought, Eldenring, which I was playing about 20 hours and than got bored or it was a bit difficult. And here I played more than 500 hours and still play it.

So you can put in some money in a game that entertains you and support their doings or play for free but you cannot be on the top rankings and not either on the throne.

pay to spend 100H/Month less hours grinding
Imo the archboss weapons make it straight up pay to win. If those didn't exist then an argument could be had.
