Sell trait extracts if you want to get the battle pass or the log leveling thing. No need to spend a single penny on the game, apart from spending your time on it.
The East is a historically poor region. To them burning cash on something frivolous is admirable and impressive. It shows wealth. The poor players see others waste money and get inspired to earn their own money (to waste).
The West evolved from this mindset centuries ago. We are impressed by careers, property and investments. Spending $10k to get an advantage in a video game that will die in a year is not impressive... It is foolish. It's the sign of a person who will be permanently in debt.
But the developers do need to be careful. It's only a matter of time before a game does something, where world governments put an end to that kind of gambling kind of systems. Probably why Lost Ark was region banned in Netherlands xD
