Why Swap Weapons????
I'm currently running a wand and staff combo. I noticed that I don't have to manually switch from my staff to my wand in order to use "wand" skills, and there is not even an animation that shows me switching if I do this. I can heal myself with my staff equipped as my active weapon. I'm assuming, therefore, that the game just treats this as if holding the weapon (having it in one of the two weapon slots) is the same as having it as your "active" or "equipped" weapon. Is the game still applying any bonuses or upgrades that are on my wand if I'm not manually switching to it before use? If that's the case, why upgrade the wand or any second weapon at all? Not sure how this works, and it gets weirder if you start talking about weapon combos like sword/bow.

Auto Attack is the reason

Weapon swap implemented in a trash way, ( this game is garbage ).

Want a proper Weapon Swap, make the weapon swap change the skill loadout depending on the weapon, like Guild Wars 2 does.

there would only have to be one small thing so that changing weapons is no longer pointless.

And that is that you could use both blocking abilities.

So always the blocking ability, depending on which weapon you switch to.
Why do you have to choose between one blocking ability when you could use both by changing weapons in battle? that's a stupid decision :er_sad:

The stats that are on the weapon do not apply to you if the weapon is not the one currently equipped.

I'm playing SnS/Wand, if I switch to wand, I have the ranged attack for easier pulling, but I do not have the shieldblock or other bonuses from SnS.

When you use the spell from a weapon you do not have currently equipped, you switch to that spell's weapon for a duration of the spell casting, and then you auto-switch to the current one. So the weapon's stats apply to that weapon's spells.

I'm still trying to make sense of the weapon swap.
lets take an example. bow/dagger build using Shadow escape with teleport skill.
Shooting from a distance with bow as main weapon, then using shadow escape to teleport and use melee skills and then instant teleport back again to use bow skills.
question is would I switch to daggers in mainhand before using shadowstep and executing the dagger skills?

No, not unless you wanted the dagger masteries active for some reason. The masteries that are active are the ones for the active weapon. It'll use the offhand masteries when you use those skills but you won't get any passive benefits most of the time.

Best thing to do is just use the Main Hand that has defenses and other passives. Then load your offhand with pure DPS.
Im still hating the weapon swapping idea. I even hated it in PoE2 until they actually fixed it to where it made sense again but I still dont use it. As for FL, you have no choice but to use weapon swap and if im force to do things like that in a game, ♥♥♥♥ that game and the company for coming up with the idea and making it happen.

Before the mastery change you only got the masteries of the weapon you used
Now its only for autoattack
