It's a good burst of early income for a game until the PvP population dies when people can't keep up with the credit card swipers.
On top of that, PvP-focused MMORPGs usually fall into insignificance quite fast due to the imbalance of money and or time between players, causing the PvP tp become Pseude-Competitive at best or irrelevant at wurst, basically turning the game into PvE with annoying, unfitting PvP-moments. And since most older PvP-games are basically irrelevant for the vast majority of casuals, it's relatively easy to again mobilize the people, who don't know what they want due to missing competition in the genre
But this is a losing trend and a proven failure. Korean MMO like BDO after Pearl Abyss took over their own game from Kakao clearly is trending toward cosmetics and pay to fast based PvE RPG. And it's a better experience than it was during 2017-2020 period.
First Descendant is another Korean game that is purely PvE that drives revenue from cosmetics and instant unlocks (being a softcore p**n helps)
NC Soft's mindset is stuck in early 2000's when it comes to developing an MMORPG. It's a shame. Literally ONE THING that could have made this game top tier is not allowing real life money Auction House, instead lining up their cash shops with skins, loot bonus scrolls that last 1 hour, Weapon xp bonus, etc.
while in a pve setting you are not competing against others in terms of progression.
and being pvp focused means less work needed to add content or make the pve good since players ARE the content.
If the PvP-ers frequent the p2w cash shop what happened to ARCHAGE???
Archage ... a pvp-mmorpg ... added a few p2w elements to their cash shop and what happened??? the PvP-ers cried bloody murder. the PvP-ers howled and moaned and howled and moaned until ARCHAGE shut down.
This thread is chock-full of PvP-er propaganda. Gaslighting at its worst.
They're actually justifying the PvP in TL by saying: "PvP means less work for Devs." Driving away your customer base doesn't mean "Less Work" it means "No Work."
Since the Developers believe all this garbage the PvP-ers are saying, there's no end in sight. No matter how many PvP-focused-Mmorpg's fail, the developers will just keep cranking them out.
*Notice how this thread quickly died the moment someone challenged ... with FACTS ... the PvP-er Narrative.
Also, it’s not absurd. It’s reality
Propaganda >>> noun
1.
information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view.
Nothing of what the PvP'ers have said in this thread is true. Yet, they continue to put forward obviously incorrect information in order to persuade other players and especially developers to believe what they are saying is true. That is propaganda.
1) No PvP-focused-MMORPG has ever been successful.
2) PvP-ers are a tiny fraction of mmorpg players.
3) PvP-ers not only DO NOT spend money, they feel entitled to play FREE.
4) Once a game no longer appeals to PVE players that game has lost its financial base.
So...I don't want to soar over to the whale then or I will die? Thanks. Good info.
