These portal mostly spawn in hard to reach areas best thing that worked for me was get somewhere really high and fly above the area you should be able to see it if you have decent pc not on low graphics ofc

I recommend using your keys at the werewolf zone (top right), easiest portals and plenty of orb locations

I agree. I have found that getting as high as possible to look around and fly is the best way to spot the big red portals.

They normally spawn on top where players need to glide (most of the time).

i just found one, it wasn't actually at the spot marked on the map - just 'in the vicinity'...
