Gacha the term comes from the coin-op random chance irl "loot boxes" things that are super popular in some parts of Asia. The whole thing about it is random chance loot box and collectable. Pokemon trading card game for example is a gacha game...
This game isnt a gacha it may use p2w/fomo/other aggressive/predatory marketing method but that doesnt make it a gacha game. Most of those designs and tricks were also in games long before gacha was even big.
Says the guy that thinks any game that uses FOMo and limited banner sales is gacha. Just because a gacha game uses these doesnt make any game that uses them gacha. FOMO and Limited banner sales were around long long before gacha went digtial.
EDIT just to be clear too, This game is p2w, it has that baked in the design. Not saying its not but its not a gacha game.
Similarities do of course exist, Gacha games, f2p-p2w, "regular" MMOs, are using many similar mechanics for progression. Gacha just has the "collectibles" aspect for heroes on top of combining any possible mechanic to drain your wallet. I´d say the difference is the density of those mechanics.
so whats your big answer then, devs cant sit around for years doing work for free. figure it out.
