This feels like a gacha game
I use to play gacha games like genshin, and withering waves. I can't help but notice throne, and liberty plays a lot like a gacha game. It really does feel like the foundation is built on a mobile game. Which explains the poor combat.

Yeah I did a little bit more research as well. Turns out you can in fact buy most of the materials to craft your growth stones, and the grind to get those mats by playing are mostly time gated. I uninstalled. I really don't like free 2 play games since they always end up like this. I hope something better comes out with less scummy practices.

Except it is? I'm not fond of the game, already uninstalled it, but it's an MMO in every sense of the word. If anything i'd argue it's more so an MMO than a lot of other games, considering the world is truly open, no real loading screens (or very cleverly hidden) gigantic open world and you can pretty much see everybody that's there.

been curious, how many times can you buy a "celebration" pack? are they one time only or can you buy 13 gold pack (that's like 78k lucent...right?) and splurge on AH?

I mean it is... It is a gacha mobile game that failed in the country it was developed for. If that isnt a red flag I dont know what is. P2W game failing in cultures who gobble up P2W and you expect success in NA? Not going to happen rofl

does it have the gacha aspect? or just the timegating?
the poor combat doesn't explain anything since GI and WW got better combat systems than most of mmos out there

its not, its just an old MMO that got reworked twice. This started as Linguine Enteral in 2011 (long before the mobile game craze was booming) it went into closed beta 2016 and was turned into Project TL which in 2022 became TAL. It also seems they couldn't decide between full action and risk the ping issues that made tera unplaybe for some people and tab target so they did this lame hybrid that just feels weird.

Edit; As for Gacha what is the Gacha here? The gear/traits? Gear progression and farming is sorta a stable of mmos. Dont get em wrong im not saying its not pay to win, im just saying its not really a gacha. Personally havent seen anything that collectable driven maybe those pets things but who cares about them.

Really cause the upgrading of gear feels, and looks exactly like how I would upgrade artifacts in genshin. Sending amotoi or whatever they are called on little missions for stuff is a rip off again on genshin where you can send characters on time gated missions for stuff. The combat is very basic as if it's designed to play on a mobile game with few buttons. Shall I continue?

GI literally has the most basic combat known to man. What are you smoking?

Imagine sounding like Genshin made it all up and doesn't rip every one of it's systems off of other games lmao.

there was a time when TaL had auto combat, so that's more basic.

The combat is typical of tab target games. it also has 12 buttons on the action bar. that's like saying wow is designed for mobile. I don't play gacha but I believe that is pulls from gambling boxes that has a chance for rare rewards. that doesn't exist here

im talking about smoothness, having 40 skills on the skillbar doesn't make a better combat system, elemental reactions do add some depth to GI's combat it is not that basic

Maybe you should give gacha games a go then, and you can see the similarities of the two.

you seem to be stretching the definition of things to the max. for example assassin's creed black flag had a system similar to expeditions. the only thing unique to gacha games is missing.

well is there a fomo aspect to a group of resources/characters/amoitois? real gachas have banners which is basically a set of limit time only selection of sort after digital things. im sure if you dig around enough the shop in TaL would have something like that.
