If you delete a chacater does the name remain in the database and is blocked forever?

A friend of mine reserved my name by creating a character in EA. If he deletes the character, is the name free? After 24 hours? 1 week?! Does anybody know, or does the name remain in the database and is never to be used again and blocked forever?

Nope, unfortunately once a name is used it is gone forever. If you delete a character the name is gone and not reusable.

Stupid af for a game released in 2024 but it is what it is.

Yes, the name is blocked.

I read they can manually release names. They did it after 3 days for the people who bought early release package. No word if they will be doing it again though.

I used a name during open beta and now I can't use it after release unless someone took it but you can't even tell.

Dang my birthday is Oct 11th I was hoping to make a new character on my birthday with my current name. Guess it's stayin' and I'll take early birthday gifts or something.

Yeah, even Everquest as old as it is will let you delete and reuse the name immediately. There is no reason to not allow this except laziness and Dev since of Power.
