Chill the F#%! out
This isn't about people complaining about the game. This is about people being toxic as f#%! in group content in the game. I was in my first dungeon in the game, i play support because that's just what i like to play, i've played healer in WoW for nearly 20 years, that said i have little clue about the support role in this game that has been out for at most a week, i've played the game for 2-3 days, but i digress. We were on the last boss and we wiped a few times, people didn't dodge, i didn't dodge (first time there, understandably) This dude, this one dude just starts flaming the ♥♥♥♥ out of me, like i'm supposed to be an expert, genuinely asking why my healing isn't enough (he didn't account for the fact that alot of avoidable damage was taken, but i guess he wasn't an expert himself) and i'm just left flabbergasted at the audacity to expect people to be experts and ultra optimized in a game that has been out for a few days. That's insanity.

Long story short, maybe you shouldn't expect people to be gods at a game that has just released. I as someone who has played WoW of all things for many years, that's insane. I am genuinely surprised at the level of toxic mindset you have to have, to act like that this early on and can we please just not do that, we don't need more League of Legends or WoW in our lives. Two soul drainingly toxic games has to be enough.

You played healer in WoW for 20 years and you’re still amazed by some dude blaming healer?

Damn.

pve player meets a-typical pvp player and is surprised that they are mostly toxic af, anti social and unable to converse with other human beings.

They thrive on upsetting people, its the only thing that brings them pleasure.
Join a guild, find chill people and only run dungeons with them as this game has the worst pug's i've ever seen.

Literally worse than DOTA and LOL combined.

This situation right here is why I am strongly considering the end of gaming and just being done with the internet. It will save me a lot of money to cancel the internet subscription. People do this stuff online but would never dare do it in person. I tank a lot in games and it's always the tank or healers fault. Not the overzealous, can't avoid fire, or watch what they are doing dps. No no.. never them.

you should have spammed your one single target heal with a 12 second cooldown more. what were you thinking!?!?

i'm so tired of these action MMOss shoehorning terrible tank and healer mechanics into the game so they can pretend to be a MMORPG.

having a 30 second provoke and some cooldowns that lower damage taken aren't worth hitting like a wet noodle for 100 hours of solo content. Enemies in the overworlds of games like this never do any damage, so defence is a hindrance. combine that with how apparently time consuming it is to change your weapon specs later on, you're really forced to stick to your tank/healer weapon the whole time.

this game is pretty bad anyway. i'd rather play New World for 2000 hours. Granted, New world was amazing until about level 25 and you realized there was nothing else to the game. (maybe it's better now, but that ship has sailed.)

not new at all. people have been like this since UO. hell id argue stupid people have been a source of frustration on this world since the dawn of time. should have just insulted his mother, questioned his sexuality, and made fun of his diminutive intelligence and moved on. but if it helps bro, we've all been there and dealt with these types of people before.
Kude Oct 2, 2024 @ 3:50pm
All you had to say was sorry but I cant heal stupidity

I've noticed a lot of weirdos complaining that they were not getting healed lately as well. A lot of damage they are taking is avoidable and blockable, but they just sit there and spam their skills. Some people just don't learn or pay attention. Mute and move on. It's what I usually do.

I wasn't amazed by that, i was amazed at the blinding intensity with which this man lit me on fire out of nowhere.

That's harsh. Makes a game "not fun". That being said, I can't even run the game. Getting some stupid untrusted system file, "\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolume3\Windows\System32\shell32.dll)" error. FAQ suggests dropping all PC protection because it could be my antivirus or one of the other protective programs on my computer. All my other games work so... um... no.

PVP needs to be toxic. It's what made Lineage 2 feel alive. Always danger, always threats.

I don't think the game is bad nor that the healer and tank mechanics are shoehorned in, i just don't think what people expect it to be lines up with what it actually is, the healer for example, isn't so much a healer (that is, someone who's primary goal i keeping the group alive) it's a support. You are not supposed to be the one keeping people from dying, that falls on people themselves to dodge and block avoidable damage and you as a support buff people and keep them topped up so that when they do fail they don't get one shot, or that the tank doesn't die to chip damage.

Compared to wow, the "healer" role here deals alot more damage in relation to how much healing it does. I guess the same is true for the tank role here, all roles are much more DPS mixed with support, rather than having pure dps/pure tank/pure healer.

However i can understand if it's not for everyone, but i do think it works as long as people treat it the way it's designed to be. That said, i do agree that the tank and healer choices of weapons and skills, there is not much variation or choice to be made.

That's genuinely good advice, i will go look for a guild.

That was my exact experience in WoW 15 years ago, it's made me extremely hesitant to group with unknown people in other games and what I've seen from the community in open world events thus far leaves me wanting to uninstall.

If anyone ever wondered why the "Solo MMO player" is surprisingly common, it's because of situations like that.
Firecam Oct 2, 2024 @ 4:28pm
I avoid multiplayer. I'll try the dungeon solo tomorrow ^^.
