Being a healer is a total punishment in this game!!! Healing mechanism and healing in general are trash in this game :(
First for all, if you play as a true support healing class with wand + bow, you will suffer a lot because of couple of reasons:

1) You will never farm the +5 number of mobs at the same time like other weapons which you need to do those contract quests at lvl 50.

2) Everyone is going to blame you for not healing in time the party members in the dungeons when +2 number of group member having low hp after a boss AOE attack (it does not matter if thy fail to follow mechanic or getting caught AOE by mistake or less experienced etc). This game's players think themself - majority as high ego with tons of insults.

In one of the dungeon, thy said that you are bad because you could not avoid the AOE to heal yourself (but healing others first), heal or not heal yourself or others - for ******* blaming everything for healer.

3) Everyone is running away from healers when thy are low hp and healers chase them...

4) Healing skills' cooldowns are very long to keep everyone alive in the dungeon group or open world pvp or pve; and healing skills mana consuption is very very high... And there are not enough healing. AOE heals, shields are like having 40 seconds, 37 seconds, etc and single target normal and dot healing skills are having 12 seconds, 6 seconds. The range of the skills are very short even you spend point on weapon specialisation section.

5) Wand and Bow weapons' healing weapon specialisation section is a total trash, you spend lots of points and noone is very impressive or very effective too; because mainly long cooldowns to re-use the skills in general as a healer...

6) DPS of healers as single target damage or AOE damage is total garbage especially when you choose your stats, perks and traits for healing versions... It is sad that to get another weapon and to upgrade it etc is a pain. The game is very limiting you if you want to play with a new weapon as the grind is in a whole level...

7) As a healer you attend to open world pvp and pve contents right? However, this game does not rewarding you because you provide healing to other players even as assisting... This game's rewarding system is all about DPS !!!

8) Healing mechanics are a total punishments. Lets say you used all of your skills and thy are in cooldown, how do you gonna heal? you use the DOT skill first then your single attacks giving heal as you damage the player or monster with 10-12 etc single dot like healing... Therefore, the healing amount is very less in this game!!!

9) There are tons of keyboard key assignment to press for self healing, party targeting to choose specific person in time, and x12 skills to press non-stop and heal others and avoid the any dungeon mechanics or other obstacles especially in different combat modes (action or classic). For example, the classic mode camera movement looks awkward especially you turn your camera and move around with your W-A-D-S at the same time (Archeage did not have this problem). In action combat version, to choose the target with mouse manually sometimes changing too (Tera Online did not have this problem at all)

I have played as a healer in Archeage, Aion, Lineage 2 (very classic tab-target) and we did not have such problems, or in Tera Online we did not have such problems (as true action combat).

The healing amount / cooldowns + healers + healing mechanic improvements needs more love in this game. Therefore, being a healer is a total punishment in this game!!! Healing mechanism and healing in general are trash in this game :(

This is slightly off-topic, but do you get 3 x 4500 when you heal yourself? Just wondering if the 50% only comes into affect when you're healing others or does it also apply when you're healing yourself.
I can only agree with Number 7. Everything else is a skill diff my man. and yeah you do need more offensive skills equipped to do quests easier etc.

Problem is it's not just about healing. Players have dodges and blocks for a reason.

Not only that the support role can only do so much. But you'll really have to maximize your mitigation's and heals. If players won't stack up or run away let them die and learn their lesson. It sounds toxic but if your doing everything possible to keep them alive and it's not getting through their skulls it's time for them to learn.

Both tank and support can offer a lot to their groups but they can only do so much. Not mention anybody that picks up a support capable weapon can also bring their own support skills as needed.

The content is flexible enough for people to bring some thing else other then dps specially if they can't live.

as for the questing bit i don't think so here. we have a lot of AOE and burst with loadout options to make things easier with a click of a button.

If it was not for the Story (main quest) giving big exp I don't think I could have made it to level 50.

Really struggling doing contracts that need kills, and the final main quest took so long for me I was falling asleep.

Bows are generally the fastest to finish Main Quest.

Again most healers typically invest in heal skills than their massive aoe. Later down the line wand is relatively fast to farm because of skill investment.

Yup, when I read the description I immediately tested it and it indeed does the 50% on yourself too, so it's pretty crazy in PvP, I have survived a few 3-4 man level 50 gangbangs. LOL

nah its not i heal and save ppl all the time you just have to be good and stop hatin cuz u cant play the game
Sounds like you kept failing to AOE heal the group after the center room mech in the specter's/deaths abyss.. Every pug healer fails to understand that even with full defenses and everyone gets in that circle there is still a substantial amount of damage that will go out.

Other areas of your post is just pure complaining.

Healing for me being a Templar is satisfying when the main healer dies and I can keep the group going with my own healing. As most healers are just bad.

spot on, people get lazy then they blame the healer.

they only have to focus on the boss and themselves, while a healer has to avoid boss damage, manage the healing of 5 party members while also keeping themselves alive.

And as with most MMORPG healers don't get any recognition not from other players or the game.

So it is no surprise there are so few who play the class.
healing in 3v3 arena is garbage.... damage output from players is 100k+, maximum healing, while just healing, is like 30k... heals need to be buffed... even if i can out heal their dps... great... i've done no damage, just healed their damage to myself... heals in pvp need some buffs to make it worthwhile to play. Oh also... if you're a healer in pvp, you just get locked down in perma stun until killed, yay thats fun, right? there is no CC break on wand lol. maybe if we get some like 6v6 or 10v10 arena i could see healers being useful but this 3v3 arena ♥♥♥♥ is a waste for any healer
It's because people find it easier to put the blame on a healer instead of taking the blame upon themselves, even though there isn't an actual dedicated healer class in the first place, and multiple builds also at least have some form of self healing. It's just your typical toxic MMO player behavior, and sadly they always run rampant. Self reflection and taking responsibility is something their kind is just completely devoid of.
I am a wand/bow user and can farm level 50+ mobs without any issues. I always complete my contracts solo; you just need to adjust your spells and stat points to do it. It’s not complicated.

It's important to know your healing resources and when to use them. You have three flash heals, but don’t spam them every time the tank loses 10% HP. Wait for the right moment to use them on different targets. Also, remember to utilize your dodge heal; many people forget about that.

As a main healer in WoW, I can tell you that the healing system in WoW Classic was one of the worst overall, and I mastered it. This game is a thousand times easier. The truth is that some people run away from healers or trash-talk them because they die—often just because they don’t know the boss mechanics.

Try to make the most of all your heals and know your cooldowns (CD). You can use them at specific times to calculate the intervals between each. I’m also very strong in 1v1 PVP; just apply your dots/CC and heal yourself like a tank, and watch your enemies die slowly.
