Tab target??
City of Heroes was a great game that NCsoft made. The concept for it started in 1999. World of Warcraft's combat, when it launched in 2004, was also very good, though its inclusion of positional abilities like the backstab was really just a natural evolution of Dark Age of Camelot's mechanics, which came out in 2001.

When Guild Wars 2 released in 2012, its cone and linear style hitbox abilities were groundbreaking. And the for projectiles to interact with ground based zones from other spells was a real step toward projectile physics in MMORPGs.

And then single player games started developing slashers, with active block and dodge. And eventually modern online games followed that standard as the natural evolution for combat in these style of games. Shooters gained grenades that could bounce, and arrows that fired in a projectile arc with gravity. These things made their way into medieval combat RPGs.

To go back to tab target is like sliding backward 20 years. Hard dealbreaker for me, and the reason I quit WoW.

I expect the people who agree with me on this have since skipped over this game and are not reading these forums, so the feedback to my opinion will likely be negative. Because the people who like it are the ones who stayed.

But no, I will not be staying. These mechanics in 2024 are what you play on a cell phone while pooping.

TERA is the only game to date that pulled off action combat healing, and its really simple too
'use skill, now you can target up to 3 allies and lock onto them, press skill again to heal'
Low cd.

I hate that they added action camera but tab is far superior so it's just a bait.
They always make it so its CTRL+123456 to target them or scroll wheel. Why not just a homing missile that hits allies to heal them :steamfacepalm:
If they made healing like TERA was action camera would be viable for me.

Still getting used to it. I put my skills in the same places as in FFXIV so I at least feel somewhat used to it. Still if I'm ever going to stay on a tab game why wouldn't it be FFXIV.
Maybe I'll try a melee.
I'm enjoying my time with TL but I'll get to max lvl and do some guild things then leave mainly waiting for ArchAge Chronicles.
