Totally. I just started playing that recently for the first time and I'm having a blast. Really wild that games from 15+ years ago hold my attention for longer than anything released today.

That's because it was designed as a subscription model game and thus had to convince you to want to play more because you're having fun. Instead of logging in, do some pointless daily ♥♥♥♥♥ and log back out. And because there was no time gating of content. And most importantly because they did not sell you microtransactions until very late into the game's life cycle - thus the underlaying game mechanics are not tailored around some "how to make the player spend more" garbage.

And because the classes were designed to compliment each other so players were encouraged to team up and meet new friends. Playing on your own is possible but slow and boring, being in a team with a bunch of dorks on the other hand time flys.

But I will admit NC Soft regulated the game better than the Homecoming curators. They knew if people can get all character incarnations easily, and multibox in AE farms more effectively than playing with others, they totally will. Thus the present version is the less social and frankly inferior one.
