Sword & Shield + Wand vs Sword & Shield + Greatsword
Sword & Shield + Wand vs Sword & Shield + Greatsword

I've always loved tanking in MMORPG's. I like to be in the center of the action absorbing all of the damage in heavy plate gear with a shield. So Sword & Shield is an easy pick for me.

What is not an easy pick for me is the second weapon.

My main character in World of Warcraft is a Paladin tank. So I thought Sword & Shield + Wand would feel right at home. However, right away I noticed that I had to place Area of Effect skills on the ground. There were 2 of these skills as soon as I equipped the Wand. Basically half my skills with a Wand I have to use the analog stick on my XBox controller to move the skill to where it's supposed to perform an Area of Effect action. To say performing those actions is annoying would be an understatement. The Greatsword does not have any abilities that I have to move around with an analog stick.

My question is this...when I get new Wand skills can I just replace the skills that require me to use my analog stick to move around the ability before it is used? Are there more Wand skills with Area of Effect actions that need to be placed in a certain location before they are performed? When using a Wand are ground effects a mandatory part of the play style or can you make it to where you don't use any place on the ground effects with a Wand? Is the Wand that much better than a Greatsword for characters that use a Sword & Shield as their main weapons?

Check the options menu, there should be a setting where you can insta cast on your target without moving the Aoe towards it.
