Terrible block mechanics when using classic mode
I have always been a mouse clicker (in terms of using abilities), and have found that blocking is terribly difficult, firstly if block is bound to a mouse key then any attempt to use block while the mouse is in the action bar results in a mouse press (ability press) and not a block command. You can map block to a keybind (keyboard) except you block in the wrong direction, having to move the mouse to above the character then right click takes too long, and there is not enough time to react.

There is also a bug or timing issue, where the ability is used, stamina is consumed but neither a block or roll occurs: https://streamable.com/6xkqi5

Here I made a quick video of classic mode and mouse buttons (not left click), not activating a command, and instead registering a mouse press. I show how the character is facing the wrong way if you try to quickly respond by moving the mouse up slightly, but below the character, and then the correct block (above character): https://streamable.com/epjvsa

Do not and never use "default mouse inputs" if you can use your mouse with custom assigns.

So, assign a keyboard key for your block first;
Assign the same button on your mouse (on whatever mouse-button you need);
Use that key to block from your mouse

That should work correctly.

If some of you would like to disable mouse camera movement you can do it by changing some values in config. I couldn't find this option in game settings so I would like to share it with you. Reason why I am doing it is because sometimes I wasn't able to choose target as second function "camera movement" was triggered if I pressed LMB too long.

There are two files in the
%userprofile%\AppData\Local\TL\saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor directory:
Input.ini and NCStorageLocalData.ini

You need to change ActionMappings=ActionName=“MouseLeft”,bShift=False,bCtrl=False,bAlt=False,bCmd=False,Key=None), by default key is set to MouseLeft

and in the NCStorageLocalData.ini file: ActionMappings=ActionName=\"MouseLeft\",bShift=False,bCtrl=False,bAlt=False,bCmd=False,Key=None), by default key is set to MouseLeft

I did think of that to make an instant block from the action bar, but my character faces away from the target then blocks, not 100% sure this is an issue as yesterday I side blocked a few attacks, but only get defend not perfect. I would guess facing the opposite direction to the attack wont work or not fully. If you press block while still mouse in the action bar your character will block in the direction of the mouse pointer, so will turn back to target and then block, lol.

No an issue at all. Also, defend refers to a block done too early.

Action mode is a simple mouse or keyboard press as needed, classic mode is much much worse.

You can block in the opposite direction? Then it must have been the bug I posted above then, because I have died a few times even when blocking.

yeah, any direction :soniisalute:
idk if its working properly on those videos tbh, cause you are supposed to hold block stance when you tap it, which drains stamina over time. Its not happening there.

Ok good to know, because based on other games I have played facing your back or even side on an enemy attack is a silly idea, I did try block hold, I made a video where you can see the blocking direction is based on mouse cursor position, and I am not able to hold block.

The block should work regardless of the direction. Never had issues to block even when on the other side. Just need to tap it on the right moment ofc

Well I have been practising some dungeons, and it so far its correct, although some attacks are quite quick and without the circle indicator, which requires some practice (learning the attack indicator, audio-text and timing). Other than PvP situations I have no further complaints (in some cases back attacks might apply? if I turn-block and my back is facing the player). PvE as scout is quite quick although my current build is more 1v1 or 1v3+ in open world: https://youtu.be/GpbvVhJmXzk

Worth mentioning that a late defend (which happens if you do too early) is better than a failed perfect :)

Also spamming the block key helps a lot!

Indeed, you can also dodge various attacks, but you should dodge towards the attack. Its more obvious when its a projectile, the timing can be correct, but the way the projectile follows at a certain speed, it can end up hitting you at the end of dodge.

I also changed my skills a bit (after testing), and ended up with a better rotation, and still with a lower mana drain than 'Mother Nature's Protest'. Its a PvE offensive build.

You can tweak the specialization points around from 60/40 if you want.

surprised you dont complain more about tooltips with info obscuring the screen when you go to click an ability , very frustrateing lol
