i actually played all of them
and all of them are just doing perfectly fine, none of them are "dead" or "dying"
login in any of the games on the list and you will see servers packed and filled with people everywhere, constant content updates and regular expansions releasing
all of those games are financially successfull and alive and going
people are just stupid and judge games by their steam numbers when in reality most MMOs on the list have their majority of playerbase in non steam version
Either way most streamers were praising the game as the next big thing around launch anyway..their opinions do not, and will never reflect the experience of an average player.
You get locked outta a lotta content if you arent able to do guild raid, you need to be in guild for a week to do it. Having to swap guilds CONSTANTLY is not fun. If you didn't get a top 10 Guild odds are they will quit when they can't get a boonstone or can't interact in Conflict stuff (Due to incompetency) but blamed on "b-buh the zerg"
The game is catered to DPS & Zerg mentality, If you're a tank you'll have a miserable time gearing. Tank can be fun in PvP but you gotta build SPECIFICALLY For it. Meanwhile, DPS Can just randomly throw stuff on hotbar and be efficient at PvP.
The balance is a joke.
PvE to an extent is fun till you run the same stuff for the 50th time.
My last guild RQ Cause they couldn't win Boonstone combat, Blamed Zerg, Then migrated to New World. Last 7ish all just cried about World boss stuff and RQ, Lots of ways to avoid but cause they can't faceroll they RQ.
That's why i don't think this game will last, People can't Faceroll the primary content (PvP) so after castle siege it'll probably die.
Are they to blame?
It is actually my main concern with games that focus to much on giving top guilds huge benefits, it just makes rest of players feel like pesant who do not belong into game, I would understand if there would be good counter design, like proper alliance system or something to shake the balance, there is nothing to shake it and question power, you must go way beyond your means to form any counter to it. If power can not be questioned, then there is nothing to fight for.
When you build a game around the biggest/powerful blob that gaketeeps content for the masses you end up with a dead game which is the direction we are heading on right now.
