Throne and Liberty / Amazon are thieves
October 10th, I purchased the Bronze Pack DLC. I received nothing in game, checking the shop storage and seeing no purchases posted. I figured the system was slow, and slept on it.

October 11th, I began searching for some mechanism for support, eventually figuring out the amazon support email. I sent them a message, and they confirmed in short order that this is a known issue and that the development team was working on it. I also mentioned that I completed the twitch drop campaign, and received nothing from that as well.

Over the last 2 weeks, Amazon has repeatedly asked me for emails proving I purchased the DLC, which I provided each and every time asked. They alternately claim the developers know about the issue and are working on it, as well as telling me that I never purchased the DLC. At one point they blamed steam. Steam support was quick to point out I own the DLC, it's posted to my account and 'installed', everything is good on their end - and that only Amazon can help me now.

I continued working the Amazon support issue, who cycles through their three canned responses: We know, we're working on it, someday we'll fix it, You didn't purchase it - send proof, and "No refunds".

I told Amazon support that they were effectively stealing from me, and their response was an immediate account ban within about 10 minutes of my sending that email. At no point did I insult anyone or use profane language, but I DID tell them they are committing fraud.

They stole my money, then banned me for being angry about it.

This a flaming wreck, and you need to be aware of what the support looks like if something happens where you need it, including over money.

While Amazon are in the wrong I'm not going to feel sorry for you, serves you right for supporting and buying into p2w trash.

So you were asking for help and stated they are thieves , stole money from you and committed fraud, and you wonder why they immediately stopped talking with you?

I don't understand, you even acknowledge that they know there's an issue and are working on it.

I did. They told me that they understood, it was a known issue, the devs are working on it. I told them I don't want a resolution as it had been almost 2 weeks and wanted a refund, they responded that I had not purchased the DLC.

At no point did I wonder why. I literally created a thread explaining why. Worse still, they banned my account and kept my money.

UPDATE: Steam has done the right thing and processed a refund after I opened another ticket with the email exchanges I had with Amazon.

I sincerely hope steam is able to recoup the 20 dollars Amazon stole, as this fiasco was clearly caused by Amazon.

BTW, Out of all the comments on here - I respect AFC_Highbury's the most.

"While Amazon are in the wrong I'm not going to feel sorry for you, serves you right for supporting and buying into p2w trash."

He is absolutely, positively correct. This game is not just p2w trash, it's an outright scam with a scummy sham-centric developer who deliberately built the game around fleecing customers of time and money, and a publisher who simply could not care any less about the type of product they push.

Choose a different game, people.

Like most companies if your story is true, they rely on the fact it is not worth it for you to take them to court over it so they take advantage of the situation and in general profit from it. Even if you did take them to court, so what, they lose 30 bucks? Capitalism at it's finest.

TBF that's what class actions are for. Unfortunately if you're alone or unable to organize, like I would have been - you're likely only able to generate a BBB complaint. If BBB had more teeth, it'd actually be a pretty solid capitalist response to unfair market forces.

Not wrong, my point is they "try" to prey on people because most of the time people do not consider it worth perusing, which gives them an easy win.

An absolute scumbag business practice that makes my skin crawl.

I think you have to have steam overlay turned on to receive in game purchases from steam.
Excidius Oct 23, 2024 @ 6:48pm
You have to have the overlay on to make the purchase in the first place not to receive the purchase after the payment is made.
