The most Toxic Community I've ever experienced in an MMO

I've played a lot of MMO's in my time, but TnL has won cream of the crop for the most Toxic player base I have ever seen in a video game. It's got everything a toxic player base needs.

Elitism, non-communication, meta try hards, GvG exploitation, discrimination towards lesser geared & console players. I mean, jeez... Anything else I'm missing?

Calling it now, this game is going to die in a year because it's player base is so toxic no one will want to play it.

i played almost every decent mmorpg release since then late 90's , including the most toxic full loot pvp games out there that most of the players who think they know everything about mmorpg's has never heard of before, like Darkfall online , shadowbane , asherons call darktide server , and many more ...

and i can tell you with ZERO hesitation that this game have the most toxic player base i have ever seen on any mmorpg, and icing on the cake i think it also might have gotten the noobest playerbase i've ever seen regarding how 80% of the players you are matched with always fails to execute some basic mech that consist to simply stand in a blatant circle on a super telegraphed attack.

Unfortunately, the toxicity of gaming community is rather high nowadays. It's even more apparent in the games, that support competition as well, although competitive games, aside of title or two that I've played, are far more toxic in general. And yes, PvP counts under this column as well. It does make sense in a way, but still...

These forums also serve as a testament to the toxicity. Whenever people make a mere suggestion, that doesn't even remove options, but asks for adding some more, that the other group dislikes, it's a sh*tshow.

I've been gaming for 25+ years, my first MMO was Ultima Online, and things were just much more friendlier. It doesn't help, that the MMO's nowadays are truly living up to the name... 'massive', with player count on one server being in thousands. Everyone is just a name on the screen. And unless you're lucky to have friends IRL, who play the game as well, it's much harder to find group of people, who will give you a feeling of community.

The other day, I looked at Guild list in the game, and most were looking for specific builds and GS. Like, I'm not interested in playing this way. I want to play a character that's fun to play, not 'meta' to play. Were I to join a guild, I'd want folks who want to simply enjoy the game, without any competition, but rather, focus on camaraderie and cooperation. So I closed the Guild search, made my own, that'll have only myself and my husband as members, and that was it. *shrugs*

100% Accurate. I have experienced all this is as well. Very shocking the toxity, insulting, and aggressive language on these forums. So few posts about actual game related questions, helpful tips, or players helping players. PVP is competition based and is a tool to keep people treating others poorly.

well-geared skilled players often don't want to carry poorly geared unskilled or mediocre players. there is nothing elitist about it, it's just not fun to carry lesser skilled people through content. Players who dedicated time and effort to learn the game prefer to play with others of their own skill level.

Learn the game, get good gear, and you'll find raid parties that won't ask you for gold. Or do the raids with other players similar to your skill and gear level, maybe join a guild so you don't have to group with randoms.

As someone who enjoys PVP and have experienced numerous games PVP communities, all I can say is this is to be expected. In general PVP focused players are known to be toxic egomaniacs.

I mean you're not wrong, but that's a literal different galaxy of toxic that really shouldn't be used as a unit of measurement of what is and isn't toxic.

More and more i find myself playing games not only by release date but by other factors , one of them community, tried Throne and Liberty and it's nothing worth time investing, saying it's Lineage 3 is disgrace for Lineage 2 which is ways better (old chronicles especially)

no full loot , can only pvp during event that are really limited in time , 100% gear based pvp.

And its exactly why the community is so much toxic , because it attracts mainly noobs who think and act like they were tough pvp'ers while in fact they are mostly carebears 90% of their time and griefers the 10% left , nothing else.

How was my comment a joke if you pretty much confirmed my point and went as far as explaining what i already posted. And yeah, its pvp driven cus the only endgame is pvp and nothing else, every activity will lead you back to pvping.
