Open world event bosses are not very fair
It says the one that contributes the most has a chance of getting the purple gear, But the people that can do the most damage are fully ranked up with the best of everything. The people wanting to get some purple have no chance they can't do the damage those high level players can do and they don't need the equipment. Sorry I'm still learning the game I thought I would have a chance of getting something there, but I get a chest of junk. If I rank up my gear I have no reason to go in there. It's weird how they set that up.

The open world events are epic stupid. When I bother to show up, I half-rear pay attention and understand I will get no loot. I never have, never will.

today i got my first drop from world boss event, it was rare (blue) daggers so not that big of an deal but at least i know the drops are coming

its even worse in any open world content... If you are a tank or just a melee at all trying to grind mini bosses in the open world dungeons, there are ALWAYS grp of stupid "range pew pew" classes permanently knocking them around so that you cant do dmg to get loot ... this doenst have anything to do with pvp its just bad behaviour ....

I believe its just a wrong translation, the game is riddled with it. I am a healer and I got a purple from a world boss once. While in my staff/wand solo play spec. I believe there is a threshold of damage you need to reach to be eligible for loot (to root out all of the afk players) and then its just rng whether you get loot and what loot you get. The problem is that if you are on a boss with 200 players, its hard to reach the threshold cos the boss dies within 30 seconds and there is what the myth about only high DPS getting loot is coming from. There is no fix for this apart from moving servers. They can't increase portal number which would fix this cos then market would overflow with purple items, destroying economy.

My point was imagining if healers did the same damage as a dps class. They'd have the same dps AND healing. or a tank having the same dps AND more defense. The original comment I replied to was you pointing out the "forced multiplayer." Which is why this game is called an MMO. Dont expect to go into a world boss solo and expect loot. You need a party.

Oh, that was for the multiplayer part. Well, i disagree to some degree. If they wanted you to have a party it would have been party only. They gave you the freedom to enter either way but limit the drop to only one side. I call that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ but i understand your train of thought.

As a high DPS with a solid activity rank on my server, I have never gotten a world boss drop in over 50 fights, partied or not. It is entirely random and you are just unlucky.

The highest dps won´t get the loot at all.

Call me lucky if you want, but i got 9 drops already when my gearscore was somewhere between 2100 and 2700. (5 at worldbosses, 4 at guildbosses)

And guess what? I play offtank and offmeta with sword/staff. My passives are tanky, i got the tank-sword with way less dps than others and so on.

The contribution is way different calculated than just "raw dps". I´ve also seen 3 healer becoming stuff, or poeple who were level 42 / 48 etc, when high geared 50 players have been on the boss aswell.
The higher you / your group contribute to the fight, the higher the chances to get something, simple.

It works the same way your Guild Contracts do. You get a percentage value of your total contribution to the boss fight. That's your odds of getting the drop. So if you do more damage, you get more contribution and in turn a better chance at the loot. Yet even if you don't contribute as much as the top guilds, you still have a chance. Level 40 players have won the drop despite major guilds being in attendance. Mobs in events operate similarly, with some events like the wolf one splitting its drops between contributors randomly, which is why you still get them even if you hit already tagged mobs.

Also, it's your personal contribution that matters, not your group's. People are confusing that with Conflict bosses where it's your guild's contribution at play. The reason partying is beneficial is because of Buffs and Debuffs affecting the party members' DPS. So you can deal more damage if you group together. You don't need to be a top contender, you just need to do something. Your chances may be slim if you contribute less but you still have a chance.

Also, stipulations... you need to deal 5% as a guild to get qualifying contribution on the Conflict bosses, not sure if it's the same on regular ones but there -are- minimums to be aware of. You also need to not die. Dying lowers your contribution, intentionally so because it's how PVPers come in and reset their enemies. So don't die on word bosses. Learn the mechanics.
