Game forever stuck after clicking Play from Steam Library (After Maintenance yesterday)

After I click play game in throne and liberty from steam, my game just says playing and it never launches, I am able to press stop but nothing ever happens. It also adds to my gaming time but game was never launched.

I have tried the following:

Verified integrity of files
Uninstalled then reinstalling throne and liberty
Uninstalled and reinstalling steam
Turned all overlay programs including Nvidia and discord
Updated graphics card drivers
Updated windows update
Went to the file location and went to properties and have tried running the TL file in compatibility mode in windows 7, windows 8, disabled full screen optimizations and run the program as admin as well as a combination of all above stated options.
Updated Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables.
Ran TL file directly from the folder installation path, it gets me a black screen to attempt to load in but backs out before getting to amazon logo (while this I don’t see steam has me set as ‘playing’)
Also added the game to windows firewall/defender exception list
Tried running in -dx11 mode

After I force close the game, I had a message that once indicated Easy Anti-Cheat (\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HardDiskVolume4\Windows\System32\nvapi64.dll) believe this is related to the easy anti cheat but I am unable to use Easy Anti Cheat to verify the game (T&L not in the selection dropdown). I have also gotten a similar error after force closing the game with the error being (\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HardDiskVolume4\Windows\System32\nvapi64.dll) which I believe is related to nvidia but I have updated all drivers and the game was running fine until yesterday, I have updated my gforce center to launch the game with optimized settings.


Game was running fine and had no problems at all until the update last night. This issue has occured since the maintenance yesterday on Oct 16, 2024. I am unable to access the game since. My steam just says play and after clicking it says playing but it never launches.


Please help. All advise are appreciated

cant even close the game in task manager. it doesnt start when clicking the play button. then my pc freezes and i have to force shutdown.

edit: think its easyanticheat problem, but dont know how to solve it.

friends, after 3 days of chasing, doing everything possible, I had even considered leaving the game, I managed to solve my problem! follow the steps

1> uninstall the anti virus and remove any files left using the "REVO unistaller" program

2:> include the easycheat and start protect game files in the "non-verification" of windows defender, I did these two steps, restarted the PC and that's it, my game started running normally again! Before, I pressed the green button to start, it started and the computer crashed, I was forced to force it to shut down! I hope I helped some who, like me, were very frustrated with this bug!
