If your leg hurts, you treat it, don't cut it off!
I also use a laptop on a stand. I use Thermal Grizzly Extreme (pink).
I couldn't figure out other third party software. I saw a link on github. I don't understand what to do, it's just a bunch of directories.
fan_config_balanced.txt , fan_config_quiet.txt , fan_config_perfcust.txt are power profiles, those activate depending on which your laptop is running. You can open and edit these to your preference. I would edit only "fan_rpm_points : 1000 1300 1600 2100 2800 3400 3800 4200 4600" line and don't touch anything else.
Are you using Legion 7?
The author wrote that he used this application only on his legion 5 pro. And he does not take responsibility for use on other laptops. Has anyone here tested this software on a Legion 7?
Yes, I use it on my Legion 7 16ACHg6 (Ryzen 9 5900HX with RTX 3080 16GB) and I can say that it is working fine. Also, I have to say that for this laptop, the fan limit is 5800, not 5000 like the author wrote on github.
