Lucent is a Lie
It's a shame 10+ years to make a game that they downgraded game mechanics to slow your pace so that it can manipulate kids with credit cards on a Premium Auction house and needing 10+ currencies for no reason, even to buy the ability to loot a Dungeon Boss.
  • Equipment is apparently hungry and needs to be fed other weapons and armor.
  • So many people confused about upgrading from blue to purple and traits, it's poorly explained by the game.
  • I can find player characters that are automatically attacking monsters in the same spot for 24+ hours, some have been there for a week.
  • Upgrading your fishing rod is based on RNG of collecting Sacks, luck is your only progress.
  • The characters voice when fishing is annoying. "che cha cho cha *yawn* che cha cho cho".
  • Vendors have limited stock to compound the downgraded game mechanics.
  • Dogs have a realistic yelp when they are injured, who knows where they got that sound bite.
  • Weekly reset is on a Wednesday for some reason.
  • I can be 2-shot in Arena by a "pay to progress" player.
  • There is no end-game, just farming Lucent.
  • Storage space eventually needs Lucent, it is not f2p, it needs you to use the Lucent auction house or buy Lucent, it may aswell be a mobile game.
  • Content and loot are restricted with the many currencies.
  • Guild bank settings can be abused.
  • Rubber-banding with flying and jumping, worse with Boss mechanics that require this.
  • Oceanic players can play on NA and have better latency than playing on a Japan server.
  • Tanks with long taunt cool-downs that sometimes don't work.
  • Amitoi is so very cringe that you start to skip cut-scenes so you don't have to listen to them.
  • Voices swapping between English and Japanese.
  • The biggest enemy this game has is the Humans, there is no big bad PVE enemy like a Lich King, or Lucent King.
  • Worldserver Disconnects.. everywhere..
  • No Blue Ink.
  • The game has a literal flying whale, not a metaphor for pay-to-win, or is it.
  • An army of korean supporters trying to salvage the game, even LazyPeon is getting DM's from korean's to help promote the game.
  • There is no Trading outside of the Premium auction house.
The only thing i will miss is i can travel around with few loading screens, and editing the HUD.
Everything else is ruined by the limitations the game artificially has so that it can make Lucent important.
Lucent has to come from someone.. probably someone that skipped most of the gameplay so they can win a leaderboard or 2shot other players in pvp.
It really shows the flaws in the game when you can buy character progression.

I mean, it's NCSoft, what exactly did you expect from the company known to be the most greedy game developer in the entire planet? We can also add AGS is known to not be exactly "for the players" and tend to manage any game they publish as a virtual wallet that need to be filled, and you know what you getting yourself into when you start doiwnload the game.

So while I agree the Lucent is predatory and the limitations are designed to promote the auction house, encouraging players to no life the game isn't good either. Plenty of other MMOs have limited numbers of dungeon runs per day that drop normal loot or bonus loot. WoW even has the daily heroic dungeon that rewards currency but only for the first clear each day. Raids usually have week long cooldowns yet here you can do the raid bosses almost back to back a few hours between them. MMORPGs have been for decades now a very slowburn progession system that limits how fast you can acquire epic items. This used to be to promote more subscription time, but now it's just all cash shop based trading so NCSoft at least gets their money on every player interaction.

The daily limits aren't the problem, those can be healthy for any game over unmitigated no-life farming. If you gave people the chance, they'd grind out 57 raids in a weekend and be in max epics by Sunday. For their own sake, because people apparently don't know how to cope with their own addictions, having content be casually paced is fine. There's plenty to do in the game still for even the more hardcore crowd. And if you really run out of things to do, do what the WoW players did. Make an alt.
