I collect X number of "pity tokens" to craft Item 1 - I get "Okay" stats on it - I Equip. Now I got farm more pity tokens for Item 1 to trait it... aww damn... crappy trait for me (I don't PvP by choice, so those stats are useless to me and only mildly helpful in PvE so not a priority) - Extract, Auction House - wait..... This would sell!(Yay!! Cosmetics here I come!) Oh... this only sells for 10... if it sells at all... Damn... Lots of em on here.. Hmm... folks probably already have em that want em... Well crap... this is gonna take a while. So I post em anyway cause I've already snatched the trait off the armor (I know.. check first... I'm learnin okay! :D ).. when I notice my sales happening more frequently I'll know a new group of players is stating up for PvP, until then. I just Dissolve my gear for mats and don't worry about the "Shiny stuff"
The inherent problem is ALL items in the Auction House are gear related and real-world money related. The game needs an in-game currency Auction House to make this seemingly Endless supply of gold have some actual value and items like Amitoi's, Cosmetics, etc. be placed there.
(Edited to complete thought)
1, buff those lesser wanted traits so they become favourable instead of HP and heavy hit chance topping the wanted list.
2, game needs an item burn, like burn 5 of a type to get a rerolled item of that type(chance at a different trait)
If done wrong 2 can make the game worse, but its a step that can be monitored and controlled serverside to even out the economy.
We still talk about a real-money currency. This means whales simply stopped paying, because they hit the gearwall, which means everyone else can close the gap now and that with way less lucent using on your own if needed.
But also... it´s not needed. You can just play the game, get your traits here and there and all is fine. Not any content besides arena wants you to be full geared.
Lucent is better spent on battlepasses or skins aswell. And maybe... maybe paying 10bucks by yourself for them to keep the game alive is not worlds ending. At any time it´ll be a better investment than paying for gear you´ll change here and there within new patches anyway.
Europeans are also more comfortable playing free games, not games that require spending. Your markets might not have as much activity as the NA ones are having. But if every item is 10 lucent, it also means it's dirt cheap to upgrade if you put a little cash into the game.
Ok... they can't get lucky with drops from Abyssals and Dimension dungeons? They also can't get lucky with Dimensional Essence, which can sell MIN 300 lucent. Dimension's most geared players choose random matchmaking, allowing new players to randomly match with them.
So if gearing blues is 10 lucent per trait... 300 lucent will get you there so fast.
Also, the World Bosses outside conflict are easily tapped with additional chance for boss loot. New players will get there significantly faster than a real F2P player on day 1.
I agree with you about endgame pvp.
You´re not useless, poeple should stop to exeggerate.
Also as been written above by Kyutaru, you can spend 10 bucks now and get a bunch of stuff on your own.
It´s either
- everything is expensive and you can earn money with the right items, but shouldn´t pay on your own...
or
- everything is cheap af and everyone can gear up with a minimum of money if they really want that.
Everything has its pros and cons, but ofc you sold stuff the first week can easily buy the stuff now pretty much for free.
Yet we still talk about "F2P". Dunno why poeple should get everything for free that easily. It would be the games end asap if we end in a Lucent-loop "because F2P can´t play properly otherwise". (Which is not true anyway.)
Ok so now tell me whats ur luck. How many item's from open world bosses have you got? I made like 60 rallies and 0 items. I started two weeks ago and earned around 2k lucents so its not even enought to build BLUE FULL TRAITED EQ. Go play roulette! You can get lucky win!
That's the point. First day players got everything that easily, and now it's just impossible. I can't even play more to catch them. It's an disadvantage that can't be equaled, unless you pay. I get it. That's how it works. But no need to distort reality. New players just have to agree with that.
I mean, thats just how any economy works... In the very beginning theres zero supply and massive demand, swipers need their gear and you have little to no competition for every drop. Hell, even green capes were sold for a battlepass worth of lucent. This is the reason that a lot of people pay for the 5 days headstart, cause the first days of an MMO or any game with an economy are special.
So i'd say that the answer, as horrible as that sounds, is "start earlier" if you want to print currency or accept the current reality
I say... very good. I have at least 15 World Boss drops now, and two are priced for 10k+ .
I am free to play. My CP is 3400 and a 3354.
New players are not gated to World Boss content, dimension, and Abyssal
I was full blues 2-3 weeks ago. Use the ones that drops in Abyssals? This was me 2-3 weeks ago full Abyssals outside weapons which are cheap now.
