Steam gave me a warning so I didn't go to the link. However what he said is exactly what I said.
He said : "A Critical Hit means you deal your maximum Base Damage on an attack."
I said : "My understanding of crit hit is when you do maximum damage."
And I also said : "If I have damage range of 50-100, then crit hit means 100."
His answer confirms what I said.
My question is actually what is normal non-crit damage. Is it min damage (50) or is it from min to max (meaning 75 on average).
Nobody has answered my real question.
I already know all this.
You are talking about the chance of a critical hit. I'm not asking that.
I'm asking what is a non-crit. Is it min damage or is it a roll between min and max.
My question was this (see OP) : "What is a normal (non-crit) damage then? Is it the minimum damage or is it a random number between min and max?"
Right, which means a non-crit hit can potentially do the same amount as a crit hit (100).
A normal hit will rng your full damage range, let's say your range is 50-100 (which multiplies by a ton of modifiers for your final dmg done), but for ease call it 50-100.
A crit will always do 100, no randomness from your side of the equation.
Every hit (crit or normal) has a separate chance to heavy hit which counts double. If it's a normal hit you get 2x that single damage roll (it doesn't actually roll twice for damage). If it's a crit you get 2x 100.
On the other end of that is a glance, which always does minimum so 50. I don't think I've ever seen a glance in PVE so it might be just a PVP thing. I don't think pve mobs stack a ton of endurance and I've never tried running zero crit just to see what happens.
Again final numbers multiply like crazy on tons of things so like 500 base damage could end up something like 40,000 actual damage in the right circumstances. This is why base damage is really important too. Honestly, gear wise I'd take heavy chance every where you can get it which isn't very many places. Both weapons, Field general 2pc for melee, Swirling essence robe, and some active specialization or passives depending which weapons you take. Best case melee I think you end up around 800/44.4% heavy attack chance for one hit. But most of the time non-melee is sitting closer to 260/20.6%.
All of that again is from your side not taking into account Critical damage +%, targets endurance or defenses.
