Player Names
MMORPGs have existed for many years. A few games have figured out how to solve the issue of "This name is already taken". Yet this company has decided to ignore what their betters have already come up with. Ex. FF14. Why is this so difficult for so many companies to solve for? I just don't get it.

They just lock deleted characters for security reasons, if u delete it u just lose access to it.
This does not mean that it will actually be deleted, that will be the reason why you won't get your name back

What does deleting a character have to do with the name not being available in the first place?

U talking about why u cant choose a name because "This name is already taken"?

Maybe i dont get it but, the name is taken because someone is playing with that name or someone used that name and deleted their character to create a new one

If your name is Mike and you want the name Mike. You should be able to be called Mike. Once a name is taken in life, it's not then taken forever. This concept of names being taken and not able to be reproduced is asinine. Discord, Battlenet and FF14 have all created ways to get around this.

It's 2024, this issue is a 1990s problem.

1. we dont know their system, if they use a name based system they cant.
exp. name based = Mike would be the base for everything happens with this acc.

2. If they would use a ID based system its possible to use same names.
exp. ID based = 99278256 would be the base for everything but u can choose names as mani u want because u save the name separately.

ID makes more sense, because they allr. use ur steamid,
so i think they already do it but don't want duplicated names

So, design it better? Listen, you are clearly on copium, so this will be my last response. Again, this is a problem that has already been solved for and they chose not to implement one of those solutions. I don't care what they "wanted". I care what the general community wants. I can guarantee that they did not want to have to add a # or character at the end of their name just to be the name they wanted. If I am wrong and you want to be Mike2000, by all means. I just think it's dumb af.

The general community do not give a sh.... about this issue. Only u and some creeps care about this cos u cant use want a nickname wich u are used to. This is a game dude. stop crying
Just don't use uncreative names that everyone has. If you have a unique name, no one can steal it from you. You should never use your real name in video games or on the internet anyway. People can steal your data.

they go to support and claim that they have lost the account data and pretend to be you by using your real name, which only you can know
