inter-server boon/riftstone battles broken ? bugged ? feature ?

me and guild queued up for battle before and all was fine

we were listed to fight akkidu riftstone flag against a guild on the same server we were on
the battle was shown under guild settings "occupation" with a timer telling when it starts

15 to 10 minutes before the battle started

multiple guild members had the battle info vanish from guilds occupation screen
it showed for some but vanished for others

when we entered the akkidu battle area - the entire guild was flagged as spectators and message on screen said "your guild is not part of battle bla bla "
while also showing the timer countdown on the right side
as well as showing "my participation kills / assists "


asking in worldchat - some players suggested that during inter server battles you needed to interact with the boonstone flag but that did not work
not before the event or after it had started ( tried to run up to boonstone flag to see if interaction was possible )


at this point im very confused
i cant tell if this is a bug or feature or something else

why "after" ? wait 20 mins for the event to be over and then interact ? wat ?
guide doesnt say anything about being listed as spectators
why battle vanish from guild settings

much confusion
