Seriously didn't know that. Will go rage on that forum then...
When other games like Duke Nukem 3D get re-released it's a lot easier since DN3D's engine has been open source for the last 10 years. Other games like Age of Empires 2's re-release get extreme framedrops due to just how old the engine is.
Either apply the fanfix or wait for them to completely recreate the game. Until CD does an HD-rerelease there won't be an official fix.
Nobody's forcing you to buy it
Edit: Find one old game where devs/owners have bothered putting forth a lot of effort for Steam, when the games been available from other places for awhile.

Also at present appears to be PC exclusive.
