That said, Soul Reaver 1 got out before Blood Omen 2.
Now, you ask, in what order do you have to play it?
For me it's the same question as: Do I watch Star Wars starting by the classic trilogy (4-5-6), and end by the new trilogy (1-2-3), or do I what them in chronological order (1-2-3-4-5-6)?
[- It's a exemple, I'm not a star wars fan -]
In any case, we have a formidable brain, it can follow whatever we throw him, so do as you wish.
For LOK, I'll do it in chronological order myself I think.
-------------------------------
For me Nosgoth is a MMO and has nothing to do with the series, or his story. It's just the same universe. You don't have to play it to witness the old Legacy Of Kain.
BO1 is "considered" abandonware, so you can donwload it for free on abandonware websites.
But in that case be sure to look after the fixes which will allow you to play it on modern systems.
If I were you, i'll look for a "ready to use" or "7 ready" version, but you'll have to search elsewere for this. No.... elsewere.... elsewere... here. I think you got it.
You can also check Blood Omnicide. It's a work in progress mod for BO1 that completely remake the graphics. You can download "the demo" (it's not finished yet), at there website.
If my memory is good, it can also be use to make the whole game work easily on newer systems, so be sure to look a it.
I bought on PSN. If you have a PS3 or PS4 you should be able to download it.
This guys knows ! BO still remains the best of the series to me.
Masterpiece and a must have for true gamer.
I have all of them, it depends on wether your diablo crpg or 3rd person rpg
Correct me if i'm wrong in this but the chronological order would be:
Blood Omen 1
Soul Reaver 1
Soul Reaver 2 --> Blood Omen 2 (After SR2, This gets put under BO1, but not before SR2)
Defiance
They are all old and abandoned by developers now, but spoiler tags because important plot points are the basis for my reasoning
I say this because Blood Omen 2 did not chronologically happen until the events of Soul Reaver 2 caused time to need to rewrite itself, with the young Blood Omen 1 Kain not getting the Raziel inhabited soul reaver from Avernus cathedreal.
The events of Soul Reaver 2 where Kain stops the reaver devouring Raziel at that point in time meant that the younger Kain had instead inherited the basic "Blood Reaver" (as fans call it)
This means kain had less power and was able to be overthrown by the Hylden under the guise of the sarafan lord (Who in turn were only able to have such an impact where they could have none before, because of Raziel and more importantly Kain, The scion of balance himself, screwing with the timelines this had impacted the overall balance of power and has weakened the barrier between realms that was keeping the hylden banished in the demon realm)
For the actual storyline, Blood Omen 2 is skippable as it's just explaining how Kains time as a young vampire had to change to work around the altered, weaker state of the reaver that he built his empire on the back of.
But it's alot of fun and certainly interesting, so don't skip it if you want the whole story, it's just confusing if you see it as Blood Omen 1 then immidiately 2, because there will be alot of inconsistencies with the Hylden and the state of Nosgoth during the early parts of Soul Reaver 2 being completely void of any hylden activity given their clear ability to interact with the world in some way in that same era as shown in Blood Omen 2.
Despite the wall of text, the "correct me if i'm wrong" was more than just a figure of speech, I feel I have over analysed the whole story since my childhood so anything I get wrong or have made up myself and thought it was canon for some reason, i'm happy to fact check and be corrected.
I even found conversions for the FMV's to vastly improve how they appear.
File size is 373MB, if you know of any sites that will freely host that amount of data I could get it to anyone who wants it.
That offer still up?
